I did look around for answers, didn't easily find them.

I've upgraded from 4 to 5, and noted a few things I can't find.

1) On 4 I could change the TV Guide minutes displayed, and did so to display 4 hours.  5 displays 3 hours.  Is there a way to fit more?

2) In 4 I could use buttons on my Windows Media Center remote, and could .  On 5, it seems like many don't work.  Is there a simple utility/program I can use that will enable many of the button pushes (fast forward, reverse).

3) There was no place to add the decoders.  Is that because it's web-based now?

4) Copying the NPVR.DB3 file worked great, once I discovered it's in two different subdirectories.  Why is that?

Thank you.

Are you meaning in the web app, or in nextpvr.exe?

Your media center remote should still work fine in nextpvr.exe. It wont work in the web app - it's not that sort of app.

In nextpvr.exe, you can still right click->settings->decoders. This controls the decoders used when playing back in nextpvr.exe.

When you're playing back in the web app, the stream is always transcoded to H264/AAC, and it's played using the browser's H264 video decoder, and AAC audio decoder.

Which directories? NextPVR ships without any npvr.db3. It creates one npvr.db3 in the user's data directory when they first run the application.

Are you meaning in the web app, or in nextpvr.exe?  Web app.  I was unable to install nextpvr.exe as I keep getting a .NET error.  Looking into that but not yet found the issue.  I did try Nlite but it has no settings as you probably know.

NPVR was the v4 folder.

NextPVR.exe's age is showing it needs three runtimes maybe try installing this

https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/download...px?id=5555

and if it still fails this

https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/VC_redist.x86.exe

Kodi is also a client option.

Thanks Martin. First one did it.

Now that it's installed, I can see that settings doesn't let me change how many minutes are displayed in the TV Guide. It does let me use my remote, so 1/2 isn't bad.

Yeah I forgot to include the guide minutes setting in the cut down settings screen you now get in nextpvr.exe. As Martin said, you can change this in config.xml. This will also flow through to the interface you get in nlite.

In fairness, it's always needed those runtimes in the past, but the new v5 installer needs more work to make sure that stuff is installed automatically.

Technology wise, nextpvr.exe isn't that bad, but it doesn't achieve some of the goals I'd want for it going forward, which is why I'm intending to provide a new client in the future.

Guide minutes set to 240, thank you.

New issue - subtitles/ closed captions. They worked fine in v4, not 5 Windows or the web interface. Checked codecs, changed 2 MS ones to LAV but that didn't do it.

If I watch in VLC, they appear.

They are OTA broadcasts in US.

I searched v5 forum for answers but no luck.

Can you try enabling them in the v5 windows interface, then post the logs? It should work there.

They do not work in the web app at this stage.
