web page

installed on mint 19 and with a little help from BrettB managed to upgrade to latest version.
however installing on my 2nd computer which has ubuntu 18.04 installed has resulted in failure.
the install had no errors,and a run check in terminal reports that it is running,but the web page fails to connect. i might be missing something simple but i'm pulling my hair out on this.
please help

If you used the deb installer run

sudo service nextpvr-service status

to see if it is running.

ye i already did that and yes it says running

apologies.that was not the test i applied. i ran your test and it came back as "service not found"
i tried the test on mint 19 and got the same result. the mint install works perfectly.

Small typo in the command and you don't need sudo

service nextpvr-server status

Some other helpful commands if you haven't found them yet

Check status (sudo not required)
# service nextpvr-server status

Stop server
# sudo service nextpvr-server stop

start the server
# sudo service nextpvr-server start

Not clear if you're trying to connect from the local machine or another, but some suggestions to start looking at:

Start with a reboot
Verify you have the IP address correct in the web browser and using the correct port (8866)
If you're trying to connect from another machine check your firewall settings

running beelink x45 which has a gemini lake processor with 8 gb of ram. ubuntu 18.04 installed
im trying to connect locally.
i have tried the checks you suggested and is ok,apart from not loading web page.
