I was wondering if there is any way to create an archive of recordings.  I've seen some discussion that sounds relevant in these forums, but it looks like it might be a feature of the Windows version, but not available in the Docker version.  Occasionally I record something that I might want to keep for the long term.  Obviously, I can just keep these mixed in with the rest of my recorded shows, but once I decide that something is a "keeper", I'd like to be able to move it into a separate area / folder (preferably still organized by program / series), rather than keeping it mixed in with the routine "watch once and delete" stuff.  And of course, I'd also like to be able to manage the archive with the NextPVR web interface and / or Kodi (which I run on a separate PC for viewing my NextPVR recordings).

There is an Archive feature in the Windows nextpvr.exe client interface. I've never really found it to be that useful though, so I hadn't implement a similar feature in the NextPVR web interface.

Basically all it would do was move a recording from one the users recording directories to another. It'd still be listed in the recordings etc, and the user is still able to delete it the same as any other recording, it'd just been moved to a different drive.

NextPVR has an "archive" function, but really it would more accurately be called a "move where the recording is stored" function. It lets you select a recording, the select Archive from the "hidden menu" (available in the Windows client and the remote GUI clients like Nlite & Knewc). You then select which of the alternate recording directories you want to the recording moved to. It gets queue up for the nrecord process to do in the background. It will then move the recording and also any other files (.log, .edl, etc.) with the same base filename. (It might only move additional files types included in the DeleteAdditionalExtensions setting. I'm not sure about that.)

However, this functionality doesn't change anything with the listing of the recording in the Recordings lists. They are all still listed. That's why it's more of a "move" than an "archive".

If you archive the file to a folder that is "offine" and you have the proper config.xml settings then the recordings won't show up in the web interface or Kodi until the folder is "online".

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> <CheckForRenamedRecordings>false</CheckForRenamedRecordings>
<NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>true</NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>
