Change Location of Data Directory in NPVR 5

Hi,

Is there a way to change the location of the NPVR-data folder for NPVR 5? I am running out of room on my system hard drive and would like to move as much as possible to my other hard drive on my laptop.

Yes you need to a system wide environment variable to point to it.

NEXTPVR_DATADIR_USERDATA=location

The only real large data in there is the media sub folder, it might be just as easy to create a junction to another location for the media

If you use NextPVR.exe you might want to move thumbs as well.

If you want to move more I'd consider why 100MB is too much on system drive

Thanks Martin. Given what you said about the small size of the folder, I don't think I will mess with moving the whole folder. I may try to create a junction for the media folder. What type of media is typically stored there? Sounds like in any case it doesn't typically get larger than 100 mb, which if that is the case, I will leave it well enough alone.

The media folder has all the meta art and thumbs for the clients. On my main system it is 977MB right now.

Thanks again Martin. It's helpful to know more information about what info. is stored in these folders. I'm going to keep an eye on it, but I don't think I'll be making any changes soon unless somehow my data in those folders creeps over 1 GB. (I had no way to tell what size my folder would normally be, as I had to do a reinstall recently and lost some of my old data)

I set this environmental variable and copied the entire data directory to a new location, but now all my thumbnails are missing for recordings. Is there something else that needs to be changed?

Unfortunately yes the catalog files all have a hard-coded non-portable filename.
