Hi,

Does GBPVR support or going to support the Videologic DVD Palyer?

first question: do you watch tv/dvds on your monitor or on a hooked up tv-set?

i have a realmagic hollywood plus dvd decoder card (got in on ebay for less than 20 CHF (about ~14 EUR or USD) in my pvr.
my tv card is a hauppauge pvr-350 and i control everythin with the remote control (no keyboard, mouse or monitor).

to watch dvd, i just added a custom tak 'dvd player' to the main menu of gbpvr, which starts the dvd player software that came with the dvd decoder card.
to control the dvd-app, i edited iremote.ini-file by adding a new section for the dvd app.

so... at the moment i have to switch the s-video cable manually from the tv-out of the pvr-350 to the tv-out of the realmagic card. which is not that userfriendly, but it works for me (but of course the GAF (girlfriend acceptance factor) is not very high... *g*).

thats the best solution i got so far... theoretically you can hook up the video- and tv-out of the dvd decoder to the tv-/sound-input of the tv-card (if your card does have this) and define a new capture source... so your dvd player would be a 'channel' in live tv or something...
i did not try this at the moment...

in this case, it would have to be possible for a plugin to get an event that this special channel was selected in live tv (to start the dvd-player app...)

i actually just tried what i explained in the post above.... basically, it works (a plugin which implements the IEventNotification) and starts the dvd-app when the name of the channel is 'DVD'.

but there is a big delay so if you hit e.g. pause on the remote, the dvd app pauses the disc immediatly, but due to the live tv-buffer, it takes a couple of seconds until the image on the screen stopps...
