.zip   Logs.zip (Size: 73.47 KB / Downloads: 2) There are actually different symptoms that may not be related to this issue, but I've been working around them. One is inability to edit file, and the other is extremely slow editing. I'm able to sometimes edit file in Microsoft Movie Maker if it doesn't work in Power Director. Ok, I'm hoping someone can point me to solutions to these two issues, but this thread is for my primary issue at hand, which is the time shown in the length field of the file is not the correct length. Most of the time it shows a longer length than it is. Whenever that happens, the file will play (in Media Player), but if I click to advance past where the unknown problem is, it freezes. It also prevents me from editing in Power Director, but the last 2 files that did this I was able to edit in Movie Maker. I don't like Movie Maker because it takes 3 hours to process a file but only 30 min. in Power Director.

I record OTA TV movies and edit them in Power Director, which usually works very well. I have tried to fix this problem using TS Doctor and some other "fixers" but although TS Doctor does correct the length time, it doesn't correct the issue where I can't edit in Power Director. TS Doctor tells me there are no errors. I assume that .ts is the only file type that NPVR records to, as I wasn't able to find any option to that.

I have been using NPVR v. 4.2.5 since Jan. This issue started showing up in the past month, even though I haven't changed anything on my system. Perhaps I just started noticing it, because lately I've seen about 10 files not editable, in which I did some experimentation to try to fix them. I end up re-recording most of them, as OTA fortunately rebroadcasts most movies on a later date.

My system is an HP Pavilion with Windows 8.1 Pro. I'm using KWorld tuners. Log files are attached. I was not able to figure out why 2 of the files would not zip, as they were "in use" by some unknown process, so they are included as "copy" of the originals.

When it comes to recording from a digital tuner, you pretty much get just a dump off whatever the broadcaster is sending. Usually the clock in the stream is a nice consistent timeline, counting up from whatever the current timestamp was when NextPVR start capturing it. Sometimes however the broadcaster can restart the clock, or it jumps to some timestamp where they have spliced in other video etc. I guessing what you're talking about is some condition like this happening in the stream, and Power Direct isn't coping with it correctly. Unfortunately there is very little NextPVR could do about this - it's just giving up a dump of whatever was sent.

NextPVR captures streams exactly as they are broadcast which may include occasional stream errors if the signal is low. Although how you wish to view files is a personal choice, to me it seems the best choice is avoid editing and use a player like NextPVR, Kodi, VLC, or Media Player Classic that all do a good job with ts stream.

v4 does keep logs files locked, that has changed for v5

I am a long-time user of VideoReDo and I have found that this program does a very good job of fixing the sort of problem mentioned. If I have a problem file I simply re-mux the whole file with VideoReDo and I can't recall a time when this failed to correct everything, including the length in the metadata.

it happens when there is a signal loss or problem with the tuner. with VideoReDo do a QSF (Quick Stream Fix) and it should fix all the problems.
