Hi,

Just found out that I am not able to watch two EXTRA device channels from two different clients at the same time. when Tuning to a second channel while watching one already, NextPVR returns an error immediately (nrecord.log shows a 404 Not found error). However, watching the same channel from two different clients is allowed.

...
2020-07-03 00:51:36.651 [DEBUG][34] [FFMPEG]: [http @ 019ad680] HTTP error 404 Not Found
2020-07-03 00:51:36.652 [DEBUG][34] [FFMPEG]: http://127.0.0.1:8867/live?channeloid=11...dfacf13db7: Server returned 404 Not Found
...

BTW, The issue doesn't exist for over the air channels.

Thanks.

A log snippet isn't going to help much. I'd suggest you post a full set of logs and a copy of the extras definition too.

What client were you using?

The client part is misleading but what you are seeing makes sense. NextPVR can multi-rec one channel fine itself but there is no way to configure the Extra to tell NextPVR that each element is a separate tuner.

The trick is to install multiple copies of the extra (with different xml name) and merge the channels together.

I use Kodi or web but the issue can be simply reproduced regardless client type or client device. If two channels come from the same EXTRA device, then the first one will be played but the second one will fail. However, there is no issue to play the same channel from two different clients, or two different channels from two different EXTRA devices or a tuner device (there are two tuners in my setup though). I used IPTV device before but I don't recall there was such issue. It seems to be specific to EXTRA device.

Sub, could you confirm if it works in your setup? if it's specific to my setup, I will post logs and setting files. thanks.

Martin, I missed your post while I was composing mine above. I think that explains the reason, but why it doesn't happen to IPTV device or maybe I didn't remember correctly ...

The IPTV device is designed to work that way, and the EXTRA device is not.

The original goal of the EXTRA device type was to allow the user to plugin a tuner type I don't support natively, and most types of device are only able to be used for a single thing at a time.

I could look into adding a 'max connections' type property in the extra xml in the future. For now, just add it more than once.

I switched all my online channels from IPTV device to EXTRA device recently since EXTRA gives more flexibility in handling the tuning process and reduces the integration complexity, but I didn't realize I lost the concurrency at the same time. Adding 'max connections' is much desired. In the meantime I will add EXTRA device more than once, just want to make sure there won't be duplicate channel names shown in the guide after "auto merge" is performed, correct?

The issue with multiple files and max connections at the root level is it might not extend to each channel. You might be able to play multiple channels but one channel might not let you stream twice. I know the op had a batch file he runs with each channel. If NextPVR didn't use multirec for the channel the batch file might be called twice.

There shouldn't be.
