I've been running NextPVR 5 on Windows 10 Pro for several months, after I tired of re-installing Windows Media Center with every update. Although NextPVr has been working well, I recently discovered that it has been filling my drive with .ts files that seem to have been created while watching live TV. Although I've set my Live TV buffer at 20 minutes, these are all 6:39 or less in length. I'd expect these to be deleted when exiting the program, if not sooner.  When I found several months worth of these files, I upgraded to version 5.0.8 last week, but the problem continues.  Google found some mentions of similar problems, but they were several years old and mention changing a setting from Timeshifting to EPG, which I cannot find in version 5 settings, client or server.

Anyone have suggestions I can use to correct this problem, short of manually deleting the files?

This is an ongoing issue with all versions of NextPVR. Usually it works occasionally it doesn't. ~6:39 is correct it breaks the 20 minutes into 3 files. I personally just delete them via a my PostUpdateEpg script.

If you can duplicate it easily send the zipped logs and sub might see something.

Martin, are you running a linux PostUpdateEpg script and if so would you be willing to share it? I had one back in my win days but I've never been able to get anything running in linux.

Linux is case sensitive so it is PostUpdateEPG.sh. You also have to remember chmod +x

If that doesn't work I suggest uploading your NextPVR logs after an EPG update. Errors and success should be trapped in the log.

When you have a live tv session happening, there is up to four files at a time, and when live tv stops, the files should be deleted. What frontend client are you using for viewing?

While this was a known problem in the past, I wasn't aware of any issue with it with current releases. You'll probably need to supply logs so I can take a look.

I'm viewing live broadcast TV with the NextPVR client on my windows PC. If I'm the only one with the issue I can just add a line to delete the live*.ts files periodically.  It just struck me as odd when I found 40Gb of files filling the drive.

It is happening to me too on latest release. After seeing this thread checked the buffer and there were 30+ files at over 50 GB total.

I am sure you aren't.  When running this test did you confirm that there were files left behind?

I left my file manager open on the live buffer directory while watching TV for a little bit this morning.

If I change channels, the files for the previous channel are deleted.
If I stop watching by clicking the square Stop button in the player controls, the files are deleted.
If I close the NextPVR client window with Alt-F4 or click the X in the upper right corner (my usual method), the files are not deleted.

I've seen this here also. A few stragglers left over sometimes. As suggested above, I just added a line to delete *.ts files from my Live-TV folder in my PostUpdateEPG.bat file. That should clear the folder every night. Smile
