About 80% of the recordings work correctly and have Season/Episode numbers and Episode name, however the 20% don't and just show the record date.  I'm guessing this is an issue with information coming from Schedules Direct (my guide provider)?  Oddly enough it's not consistent so a show will record great and then 2 episodes will not have Season/Episode numbers then it goes back to having the info.

Assuming it's a provider issue, would it be possible to at least include the Subtitle/Episode name in the filename if there is no Season/Episode numbers available?  I see the Subtitle/Episode name in NPVR, so it seems to know it, just can't get the exact S00E00 part.  It would make it much easier for me to manually fix if I at least have that info in the file name.

Example is "Secret Life of the Zoo".  It there are 2 episodes recorded on 10/18 that have a subtitle in NextPVR, but just dates/times in the recording names.

It is most likely a case of the guide info not containing the season/episode number. On the Settings->General tab, click Export Recordings, then post the zip file and I'll check the metadata for this show to confirm.

Attached is the recordings export. I see it doesn't have the season/episode number for those episodes. It does show the Subtitle in the xml file. Could it be an option to include that in the recording name if the season/episode number is unavailable? At least with that info I could manually add the season/episode numbers.

Your file isn't attached. You probably needed to zip it first.

I can't really think where you'd add it. Sounds a bit ugly to be honest, so probably not something I'd do. Lets see your recordings xml to see if that data was present or not.

Sorry, hopefully it attaches this time.

I was thinking something like "Secret Life of the Zoo - Tough Love.ts"  Then I could just search TVDB for the show Secret Life of the Zoo with an episode of Tough Love and fill in the Season/Episode numbers.

Yeah, that seems to be missing season/episode numbers.

I could look at adding a fall back for title-subtitle naming. That said, it'd usually it'd be uncommon to have episode subtitle, but not a season/episode number. If I were you, I'd probably ping Schedules Direct to ask them about this show, and they'll probably get the data fixed at their source.

Yea it would be a fallback if there is no season/episode number but a subtitle then name the file as such. Maybe a check box so if people don't want the feature. I would reach out to Schedules Direct but honestly it's not just that show, but a number of different shows. I just did a quick look through recent recordings, Top Gear, Jay Leno's Garage, Halloween Wars, and Secret Life of the Zoo, all have missing season/episode numbers on a few of the episodes. I'll send them an email, it won't hurt. I figure they are just passing along the info they get.

SchedulesDirect doesn't support special which don't really have a season number. Thetvdb does have zero series for these but the number is a user number.

If you look at the EP number really they should be in their own folder with different series metadata

The issue I'm having isn't related to specials. One example is Title: The Secret Life of the Zoo, Subtitle: Tough Love, and Season/Episode: S07E03, but Schedules Direct isn't sending the S07E03 information so Nextpvr can't put it in. However Schedules Direct does send the Subtitle (Tough Love) so I was curious if this could be added to the file name when the Season/Episode info is missing.

The real issue is the missing data from Schedules Direct. Just figured if it was an easy add with maybe a check box it may be helpful.

As always thank you both for all of your hard work.

Ok sorry I was looking at a different series. I guess most of us never look at the filename. It is a none issue with sub's NextPVR web and other apps and Kodi and jellyfin but I guess it would be nice to edit the metadata/art too.
