Updated to the new image this morning. I use Portainer to manage my images/containers and simply redeploying the container via Portainer had the desired effect of performing the update. I have done limited testing so far but everything I expect to see is there and the app seems to be running well. I have some test recordings running/scheduled for later today, if I encounter any problems I will report back.

I have a simple use case for NextPVR which is to record programs/films etc and I use Kodi on a separate machine for playback and management. I do use comskip to remove commercials where possible. Is there anything in particular you are looking for feedback on ?

Thanks

Chris

Updated to NextPVR v5.2.4.220103 release.
I also added a new tool that I am experimenting with https://github.com/smacke/ffsubsync

Upgraded to ffmpeg 5.0 and Handbrake 1.5.1
Changed build of Comskip to Donate version -- This is getting harder to build as it is using deprecated APIs not available in ffmpeg 5.0.  May need to start looking at forks.  I looked at creating a PR myself, but there are a couple of API calls that might need significant rework.
Added youtube-dl & yt-dlp just for fun.

I have done quick transcode and parsing tests with all of the additions, but this is a major upgrade so report any issues.

My major issue with NextPVR is that I am not able to play live TV or recording from an iOS Mobile browser. All seems to work fine but then nothing plays. Do you think your image with FFMPEG will solve this?

All NextPVR platforms use ffmpeg for transcoding and remuxing to the web browser clients. What differentiates them is the power of the server to be able to transcode in real-time. Furthermore on any platform the major difference achieved by enabling H/W decoding. H/W decoding will be the same on any version. If you are you using any Docker you will need to take special steps to enable H/W decoding if your host supports it.

There is no reason to suspect that ffmpeg 5 will do CPU based transcoding any faster than the older ffmpeg NextPVR uses.

Using the official iOS app would be the recommended solution.

It's probably just a case of Safari blocking playback because it assumes the video is an advert on a web page. Safari is pretty painful to work with. The iOS app doesn't have to worry about this.

I wouldn't expect much of a performance difference, if any. I do a custom ffmpeg build more for features than performance.
It doesn't sound like your issue is performance related though.

An easy way to verify is to get a low-bitrate mp4 and try and play it. That should eliminate bandwidth and transcoding concerns so if it still doesn't play then it is Safari or something as above.
