Some of my recorded OTA program have glitches during playback. It's like it was a windy day or weather or something when I recorded it. The glitch looks like a pixelated freeze frame for several seconds and then the recorded program starts again but not where it left off. However long the glitch lasts is how much of the program I miss. I checked my signal strength from time to time but no way to check it during recording because I record a lot and never know which program to check. I don't know if it is a NextPVR issue or a recording issue or a playback issue. And I have no idea how to send "Logs" or whatever they are called. Just looking for ideas at this point. Has anyone else had this problem on playback on OTA recorded programs?
Thanks
Graham

It does sound likely it's a reception problem. If you've got a short sample recording that you can upload to somewhere like onedrive, google drive etc, I can check if it's had reception issues.

If someone could help me figure out how to take just a few mins of a recorded program I have with the glitch and then tell me how and where to post it to be viewed I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Use CutChunk from the wiki for the sample and make sure it shows the problem. Use OneDrive, GoogleDrive Dropbox etc for sharing.

Hi sub,

Just wondering what you use or recommend to check the .ts file for reception issues / glitches? I'm having an issue with a particular tuner which I will need to try and debug. Smile

Transport streams include a continuity counter in each 188 byte packet. If the continuity counter is not the expected value, one or more packets has been lost. These are known as a discontinuity. A count of the discontuities in a file will give you an indication of how good/bad the reception is. Unfortunately I don't have a recommended tool that will show your this. Maybe TSReaderLite shows this?

I've used this for several years https://github.com/daniep01/MPEG-2-Trans...t-Analyser

Thanks sub, mvallevand,

That's just the info I needed and looks like a great tool! Trying to debug issues with a Hauppauge quadHD.

Vundavar again still having freeze issues but here is what I just noticed. Let's say it freezes on playback at 5min 20 sec. for 10 sec and then plays at 5min 30secs. So 10 sec is missing but I can stop it at 5 min 30 sec and rewind to 5 min 21sec and the missing video plays. But if I go back to 5 min 20 sec it freezes again for 10 sec. Now what gets interesting is when I play the next program on that channel and it starts a little early which is the tail end of the other program with the freeze issue and the freeze issue is not there. That tells me it is not a reception issue or so it seems to me. So is my NextPVR thing messed up? What should I do?
