device needed for recording

every time I start next PVR while watching a program the screen freezes and I get a message saying the device I am using is neede for recording and gives me the option to return to main menue.
As I have no recordings scheduled I checked the program status to find the following: "Recording: C:\devxxxxxx\null.ts". Can you please tell me the cause of this and how I can prevent it?

It’s sounds like it’s updating the epg. This is why we typically update the epg at like 3am.

It sounds like you’ve done something to have it running at other times.

Thankyou, I have indeed altered the time simply because my computer is not switched on at 03.00. I have reset to a time it will be on but I am not useing nextPVR and hopefully that will fix the problem.
