I assume from what I've read that V5 no longer supports PlugIns?
For me personally that's a massive setback, since I don't use the default UI.

Does V5 still support Custom Tasks?
Something as basic as a call to Chrome with an arg?

I've done a quick test that wasn't successful.

You can still change the UI skin but some things need updating for V5.

For general plugins read here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid548398 and later on there is a maybe..

Menu tasks seem more likely but again right now no. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid550013

Martin,
Thanx for your quick response.
If sub was actually making any money from this I'm sure he would put you on the payroll ! Smile

If sub was trying to make money from this then plugins definitely wouldn't come back. They were dead in v4. It was nice playing streams from Web Radio in Roku testing though.

Big Grin I think they were dead even in v3. There was just a small handful, most of which just limped along. Admittedly there were a couple of decent ones.

The v5 move to .net core, and becoming cross platform, broke any chance of running those old plugins running as-is, and (I'm pretty sure) the authors had moved away from the project, so no way to get them updated to work. Ultimately it didn't seem work the time and effort to to try implementing plugins again, for something that got very little traction in the past.

For v5, there is a kind of plugin, "extras", so that users could plugin new sources of audio/video etc.

If you aren't using the NextPVR UI, what Plugins/functionality are you wanting?

I wrote my own code/plugin for a custom UI based on the layout of the old SageTV that I had been using pre-NPVR.

One more vote for bringing back custom tasks.

I also noticed my custom tasks appear in the menu but don't run. As @artmetz said:  Would it be easy to enable the menu items internally with no UI for now? I'm ok with editing the config file manually. Only on the windows version of the NextPVR server would also be fine with me.

With KNEWC/X-NEWA the custom tasks were a great way to do things on the server from kodi in the bedroom.

I was using the menu to launch other web sites and applications. (i.e. weather, bloomberg online, etc). I wound up finding a way to move them to the Beyond Media UI. (I was a Beyond TV user and still use the Snapstream remote)
I would be interested in the ability to run a custom script against a recording in NPVR from the UI. Sometimes comskip does a horrible job marking commercials, so a one click way to cleanup the comskip files in my own script against the current recording would be handy (i.e. extend the recording menu). Another possibility would be to manually trigger comskip against the recording... These aren't critical however, just for future consideration...
