Recording of Successive SHows

Hi,

I am using 3x HDHomeruns with cablecards. When recording two shows on the same channel one after the other I notice that during the pre/post period where both are being recorded then sometimes one tuner is recording both shows and sometimes separate tuners are recording each show during the overlap period.



Recently it happened that on three channels one show was ending and another was starting and on one channel one tuner was recording both shows but on the other two channels separate tuners were recording the show that was ending and the show that was starting. Instead of using three tuners to record 6 shows, NextPVR was using 5 tuners.



Any idea what causes this?

There is no guarantee that back to back shows will record on the same tuner if that is your concern.

Hi Martin,

In that case, what will happen if all tuners are in use and one show is ending and the next show on the same channel is starting?

I thought that three HDHomeRun Primes with 9 tuners was enough but maybe it is not.

VIdeo collectors typically stretch the limits of the use NextPVR is designed for but I leave it to sub to follow up on this should he choose. It can be complicated math, minimizing tuners at 7pm doesn't necessarily mean that at 10pm they can also be optimized.
