I tried searching the above but found nothing.  I had nlite working but now i get a 'no nextpvr server found on the network" error message.  For the life on my I cannot tell why.  can someone direct me into the right direction.
Thank you,

On the server you want it running check that discovery is working at the command prompt

netstat -an | findstr 16891

If you see something then check for firewall or internet suite blocking UDP on the host and client. If you run an VPN that could cause issues too.

If you run v4 and v5 and start v4 before V5 then stop v4 that good cause this too.

I get udp 0.0.0.0:16891 *:*
The firewall and the vpn is off. Just running ver 5. No ver 4 on this server.

If it is the same subnet it should work.

Instead of using discovery try to use the parameters

Code:
nlite -server:IP:PORT:PIN

fyi - I had to use these parameters on a Windows 7 machine also, discovery didn't work. An older version of NLite did work. The new client does work on a Windows 10 system on the same network.
This was from the latest NLite client.zip. Let me know if you want anything else.

I'm struggling with this too. nlite-win32 works fine. 'client\nlite' says it can't find the server. I follow the advice above ... 'nlite -server:home.rata.co.nz' changes the error to "Unable to login to server." The old client can find the server, and log in to it. I rentered 0000 as the PIN just to be sure. (I also tried 'nlite" -server:home.rata.co.nz:16891:0000' - still can't login.)
Any suggestions please? What should I look for in the logs to get a clue to the problem?

What you want would be (assuming nlite win32 supports hostnames) is

Code:
-server:home.rata.co.nz:8866:0000

16891 is the discovery port, Discover won't work if this is a different subnet or 16891 is firewalled.

I did wonder about the port number ... but the message I get now is that I can't login, which assumes (yes assumptions are dangerous!) that nlite has found the server. Tried -server:home.rata.co.nz:8866:0000, same error.

Since that is a Internet hostname you can't use 0000 as a pin and you must enable remote access in settings. Typically it is better to get it running on the local network first
