I would like to add new backgrounds to the clients.

I would also gladly work on the development of any hooks needed to allow for this or any other simple user experience features I could. I have visual studio and know a variety of languages, it's just not my day job .

Skins for V5 work pretty much the same as V4 for NextPVR.exe and UI clients. No one has updated any at this point.

I don't see the _Backgrounds fold in NPVR-data. Where is the default background stored?

Skins are in Program/data/skin/ and then look under the Default skin

Thank you that worked copying from V4 to V5. Now to work on a way modify the menu to add a plugin...any tips? Trying to make it remote friendly for reboots, view scheduled recording, refreshing the EPG, etc.

You can't copy the sking since V5 has new features, just the background.

Tip. Don't waste your time V5 doesn't support addons but for remote functionality use the web app. Reboots aren't supports but they weren't supported in the core app and it is a rare need, try and address the reason for this in support posts.

I checked and the backgrounds show in the settings, but are not applying. Should I post in support?

It's possible I've never tried that in v5, and it may not be working. It's easy enough for you to overwrite the C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\skin\Default\background.jpg file with whatever background you want to use though.
