Is there a way to have NextPVR create tvshow.nfo, episodeName.nfo, poster.jpg for recorded shows. This is what Kodi requires for episodes to display in TV Shows. i see it saves an XML in the folder but no .nfp

There is no automated method using my tools, since I figure most people just use pvr.nextpvr or other clients to play the recordings now and don't want to invest time in il. But the NFO file assume you have good EPG data so the S/E and movie year naming should allows Kodi, Plex etc to scan your recordings.

A long time ago I also posted a way to get NextPVR standard names in TV Shows when they don't have S/E or movie years. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid440757

Thanks for the response. I did find a solution that works for me. Found this python setup that original creates an episode.nfo file, plus a thumbnail.jpg for any show that does not have s/e.

I modified it to also create a tvshow.nfo file in the shows folder so that Kodi will scan it properly.

Here is the original python setup that I used:

And here I was going to mention the tool I built and use. Glad you found it useful. It's for kind of a niche use case really. I record everything in NextPVR, but I really don't like the Kodi PVR interface. It's so basic. So this way I can scan TV shows into my library as they are recorded and get the full visual experience.

@mvallevand, I came across this thread while trying to find a simple way to display the recording date in the OSD during playback (i.e. just the file date would suffice) when using the Kodi (Estuary skin) and the regular pvr.nextpvr TV section.

My NextPVR use is *extremely* straightforward -- I mostly have manual recordings, and I don't add them to the Kodi database. Given this, using the aforementioned trigger.kodiscan would be overkill.

In the Estuary variables.xml file, under the NowPlayingBreadcrumbsVar section, it uses the label VideoPlayer.Title to get the recording title for the OSD, but, unfortunately, there's no corresponding label for the date to use, something like a "VideoPlayer.Date" that would match the ListItem.Date (which uses the file date). There is a VideoPlayer.Premiered, but that must come from the Kodi (or guide?) database, so I don't have that.

How is the pvr.nextpvr add-on passing the title of the recordings to Kodi so that VideoPlayer.Title displays just the recording title? I ask because, according to the Kodi documentation, VideoPlayer.Title either returns the title from the Kodi database, or uses the filename, and, clearly, with pvr.nextpvr, the OSD is showing *just* the title, not the full filename.

Frankly, a quick and dirty way that could suffice might be to make my pvr.nextpvr add-on pass the *full filename* to VideoPlayer.Title rather than just the title? I don't know how I would go about doing that, but that would get me the recording date visible in the title displayed on the OSD without modifying anything in Kodi, because the NextPVR recording naming convention *already* includes the recording date in the filename.

Sounds like you should be using the NextTool --file parameter to update the NextPVR database with whatever metadata you'd like. Check the wiki for more info.
