Connection refused on live tv

Hello, I am on Ubuntu server 20.10. Nextpvr installed nicely. As far as I can tell all folders have the necessary permissions and owner. I have the tuner card set up and all of my channels were brought in. When I click to play a channel from a networked computer I get the "Streaming failed transcoder exited". Looking at the logs I am seeing a "connection refused" but cannot figure out why. I have searched for two days trying to find the solution and if somebody could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
I attached my logs. If I may add, I have also tried to access it with Kodi and that did not work either.

Did you install with the deb installer as a user?

I did this logged in as a user but had to use sudo.
curl https://nextpvr.com/nextpvr-helper.deb -O
sudo apt install ./nextpvr-helper.deb --install-recommends

Do you have any applications that are blocking services from opening ports on localhost? Maybe a VPN? It looks like DeviceHostLinux "server" socket cannot communicate with the NextPVR server. Also is localhost usable as ipv4 on 127.0.0.1? I see odd connections to the DeviceHostLinux server but not from NextPVR. What were you trying with those?

Try this after trying to tune a device to see what is being opened

sudo netstat -ltnp | grep Device

Also what do you mean by networked computer?

Hi Martin,

First, this is just a server with no GUI and no VPN. I was using it with MythTv for a few years and too much tinkering messed up the database and I did not want to start over. Network computer meaning it's in the house and I'm accessing it from my Linux desktop. After changing a couple things as you suggested for network access something changed. Now when I click on a live tv channel I see "Starting Device" and then receiving data (a lot of data) and then it fails. I attached another log file. If this helps NextPVR is on 192.168.0.102 and I'm accessing it from .101.

And finally, it is working on Kodi after changing the network settings and I really appreciate your help steering me in the right direction.

Unfortunately it appears that there continues to be a bug with the conf file creation when you copy rather scanning multiple tuners.


Check

/var/opt/nextpvr/adapter1-ATSC-channels.conf
/var/opt/nextpvr/adapter2-ATSC-channels.conf
/var/opt/nextpvr/adapter3-ATSC-channels.conf

and make sure they a) exist and b) look like

/var/opt/nextpvr/adapter0-ATSC-channels.conf

Hello Martin,

The other 3 adapter files were not in the folder. I added them and changed the permissions and yes, I did copy them originally. I did set it to record last night and it did that without a problem.
Is live tv or recordings supposed to play in a browser? I'm using Brave.
This log file is after a reboot.

NextPVR can't guarantee that Live TV will work in a browser since except for IPTV it relies on server-side transcoding which does take CPU and possibly GPU power. Makes sure it works for software (CPU) transcoding

It looks like you need to scan again. You may have lost a fringe channel on a rescan.

As for other testing I don't see the tuner locking in to WTAE so reception is outside NextPVR control. On Linux you might want to look at the command line scanner dvbv5-scan to review what channels to expect. You can also cut the number of channels scanned by created a custom conf file that includes just the frequencies for your area. I won't be providing further guidance on those suggestions.

Good morning Martin,

I wanted to let you know that everything is working as it should, including adding commercial skip. Bottom line, changing my network host file adding 127.0.0.1 and making sure localhost was also in it solved the connection issue.
