Having made the move from v4 to v5 two or three weeks ago, I have a really annoying problem.
Most evenings long after the final recording of the day should be finished the PC is still running. This only happens after NPVR records a TV program!
For example last evening it was set to record four TV programs.
"The Long Call.S01E03" ITV 21:00 to 22:00
"Shetland.S06E02" BBC One 21:00 to 22:00
"Bump.E01S03" BBC One 22:25 to 23:05
"Bump.E01S04" BBC One 23:05 to 23:35
Plus 15 mins padding at both ends of all recordings for safety.
I found that at approximately 00:30 the PC was still running!!
The Desktop Gadget displayed no recoding activity.
The system tray indicator was green and showed no activity.
But when I opened NPVR/settings/device status it showed that "The Long Call.S01E03" was still recording.
My only solution at this point was to save the log file and restart the PC after which it then went to "sleep"
On checking this morning the "The Long Call.S01E03" recording is only 1hr 33min so it appears to have stopped recording but not disconnected from the tuner.

I am having trouble identifying why, I have only used this version for a few weeks.
I have recently changed my TV Guide from XMLTV to Schedules Direct, and deleted all pending recordings and set them up fresh.
I have re-installed the latest version of NPVR after first shutting down NPVR Services and NPVR Server.

Quick Edit!!
I forgot to add that when I have looked in the recording folder after deleting the recording a file is left behind "The Long Call.S01E03.ts.map"

Can anyone help please?
Bob

There is some thing happening that sub needs to look at One on hand the device log for the first attempt to record "The Long Call" looks good but it fails and gets started on a second tuner. Both recordings are showing as running after the fail though.

2021-10-27 20:48:11.525 [ERROR][9] Unexpected error on LocalRecorder.StartStream(): System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out.

The second attempt used the same filename so the first attempt couldn't have a created a file. Is R: drive a network or USB drive ? I am wondering if it takes a long time to spin up after resume.

Hi Martin
The R:/ drive is a 500gb ssd wired Sata direct to the mother board and is only used for recorded programs, so no delay there..
The PC was in sleep state until woken up to record, maybe if I prime the tuners in settings it might help..
What do you think?

Thanks for the info. Sub needs to look at the log and try to understand why it didn't work the first attempt and also why it wasn't stopped on failure.

I think sub resets primed tuners after resume anyway but priming tuners can be beneficial with satellite tuners in some situations.

I think generally speaking with 4 DVBT/T2 tuners which can record more than one program depending on the frequency it's unlikely considering the priority order that the satellite tuners do anything unless I record from one of the few channels that are satellite only, which is very infrequent.
But I have ticked primed for now.
Thanks

It does not get any better
Woke at 00:15 last night looked in on my PC and it was still running last NPVR recording finished at 22:15.
Downloaded log.
Ran CMDF Prompt  powercfg /lastwake
Returned NextPVR Server.exe
Restarted PC and it went to sleep.

I would love to resolve this issue, if not I feel that I will have to revert my PC back to an image which contains the reliable v4 setup.

Did you lose any recordings? It seems drastic to revert because sleep isn't working.

The gadget is calling the server every five minutes so that disk activity could be keeping it awake but it isn't consistent. Are you manually putting the server to sleep. The best test would be to start the PC from sleep and see if it goes to sleep on its own when no recordings are involved.

No I did not lose any recordings in fact I am editing the two from last night at present and they a fine as I expected.
If I restart the PC after it fails to sleep following an NPVR recording event, following the restart it works normally sleeping after 10mins of inactivity and resuming normally.
It only seems to stay awake after a Recording event. Day before yesterday with a recording glitch that stayed locked on and yesterday for no reason..
If you think it's the gadget should I remove it and try again?? But then again that does not explain the glitch from the day before yesterday...
A reliable sleep on my PC is important to me as I leave my PC running in 24/7 home or away....
Minimum power if I am not using it but wakes to record anything I want to edit/watch!

If it works without recording I don't think it is the gadget. Maybe do a test with just one recording and see if it is multirec causing the issue.

I do understand why sleep is important,I had to give it up because it is not supported on linux, I was just suggesting to work through it for a while until sub responds, as I wrote to you yesterday.
