I have a few clear QAM SD channels that I receive from my cable ISP provider with an HDHR Connect. A few channels show up with a boarder around the picture (not full screen). All clients including the web client show up the same way.

Is there a way for NextPVR to make these channels full screen? I can adjust my TV to zoom mode which makes the picture full screen for now.

Here is a sample recording of the channel.  https://1drv.ms/v/s!ArMMuDTvT3Aij2njg7uT...5?e=5aqddE

Thanks

NextPVR.exe should still do this I think it is F7.  I could do it on uidroid but as you found out I think the best approach is to us the TV zoom modes.

Yep, F7 should toggle between aspect ratio modes

Using the TV zoom mode also zooms the UI which makes it very difficult to use and the timeline is not visible.

It's just a problem of your cable company's making. They've chosen to transmit 16:9 content inside a 4:3 frame. Most cable companies of moved away from doing crap like this...must be a few still hanging around.

Some people are lucky enough to have an HD version of the same channel available, which doesn't contain the black bars at the top/bottom. (the black bars at the left/right are added by the player, since that is what you need to do to display 4:3 on a 16:9 window)

You should be able to F7 to 'remove letterbox' aspect ratio mode in nextpvr.exe. You wouldn't want to have to do it all the time, but it's at least a work around for the few bits of crappy content like this.

Ultimately this is just a work around for crappy content, and the cable company is the only ones that can give you an ideal solution where this doesn't happen.

In knewc I give access to the video menu during playback, it is mapped to Alt-Y which is yellow. From there scaling by 1.31 will typically scale letter-boxed 16:9 to full screen. Kodi

Kodi also has video settings that are available and remembered for each channel. So, I will probably just use Kodi if I watch those channels. Access to the video settings for uidroid would be nice but probably not worth the trouble.

As far as the crappy content from my cable company I'm sure they have quality content for their TV customers. Since I am only paying for internet, whatever TV content they send me for free is not supported on their end so, I can't really complain about it.

Personally I didn't find that quality crappy and you should consider yourself fortunate to get any clear QAM for a non broadcast channel. I suspect paying customers don't get HD either.

Yes the setting in Alt-Y use the Kodi setting which are saved but there is an asterisk. From the video library the sid get stored with the filename so if you exit UI client with the Exit menu and not the long context key the sid will change. As a recording Kodi strips off a lot of info after the ? so all recordings are lumped in the same bucked with the filename live

Adding features like this was much easier 10 years ago when people liked a lot functionality and remotes with lots of keys. On the NMT I was able to provide zoom as a toggle. Now I am stuck designing for 5 key remotes
