When I record a program in nextpvr from the uk, the filename has the date in reverse order.
It should be named as follows in this example:
This Morning_13-01-2022_10001230.ts

but is actually named as:
This Morning_2022-01-13_10001230.ts

As you can see the date format is in reverse for how it should be in the uk.
I checked on my windows and the date format is as day - month - year so this is correct for uk.

I tried with or without plex naming in the options but still same issue.

Any help how to correct please?

That's how it should be so that the files are sorted in the correct order in Explorer.

The way you suggest, the files would be sorted on the day of month number, which would make browsing the files very inconvenient.

Hi, I don't quite see what you mean because if the files are sorted alphabetically, then they are sorted from the 1st letter of the filename which can be any order being that the start of the filename is the title of the program.
For it to be sorted alphabetically, or numerically rather in case of dates, then the date would need to be at the start, but this is not the case.

As i stated, I would like help in reversing the date part of the title if possible for better reading aesthetically, so some help with this would be beneficial.

Here is a small example of that format in in alphabetical order

This Morning_11-01-2022_10001230.ts
This Morning_13-01-2021_10001230.ts

vs the NextPVR naming format, which produces the correct order:

This Morning_2021-01-13_10001230.ts
This Morning_2022-01-11_10001230.ts

Sorry, the application does not support the file name format you're after. There is nothing to stop you writing a PostProcessing.bat script to rename it though.

For some of the world the month day year format is going to be very confusing.

NextPVR must be getting too stable, people are pulling things out of the woodwork. Sub, it's time for a new major version so you can introduce some bugs.

(2022-01-13, 11:23 PM)I thought you guys on this forum was supposed to be a friendly bunch.I can see you think you are smart making comments like that.Actually, I really appreciate the work that has gone into Nextpvr and I am grateful for that.I was only enquiring on somekind of option or a way to change the date naming format.Sorry if this is too trivial for you to comprehend.mvallevand Wrote: For some of the world the month day year format is going to be very confusing.

I didn't mean to offend you or sub, but my nature does tend to offend some. Feel free to put me on your ignore list.

(2022-01-13, 11:08 PM)Thanks for the reply, I see now how the date system works.I have written a script to alter the date format but once you change the name, it no longer shows up on the recording list, hence why it would have been nice if there was an option originally to have a choice in the matter.sub Wrote:

We went through pretty much the same thing over the last few days with another user. If you are able to script rename in post processing sub provides NScripthelper which allows you to update the custom filename in the database.

NScriptHelper -rename oldfilename newfilename

It's definitely a balancing act steering a project like this. I've intentionally tried to make NextPVR easy to use, and part of that is not implementing the zillion oddball requests, and trying to focus on the things I think add significant value. Sure, one little extra setting wouldn't have hurt, but then you're the only person that has ever asked for this format date in the filename, in the 15 years or so of NextPVR...
