Hi there.
I use daily NextPVR to record series by using Man-Rec and use its options to record a period of time of a specific channel (like 17:30-22:00). The show I want is in this period of time and airs one episode after another. The name of the episodes are like "something s2 e15". I wamt to have NextPVR to automatically record "something", ignoring the "S2 E15" part.
The good thing about Man-Rec is that I can record a period of time and catch some other tv shows. The bad things are that I need to search for the parts not needed to cut them out, save and rename the parts I need, etc. I usually have to use Avidemux to load the massive TS file, it scans the file, oddly I have to save everything first into mkv, then I have to close/open Avidemux, load this mkv, it scans the mkv, then I can accurately select the area I want and save it, and repeat same selection/save.
So my question is: Can I tell NextPVR to record automatically "something" ignoring "s2 e15" no matter when this "something" airs?
Since I am here, can I custom the colour of the selection items within Desktop App? I find annoying to look at a bright selection with dark text, and the background being dark blue. For example, I want to click Recordings and the items from the list to be presented in a brightish dark blue with light text.
Thanks.

It's not entirely clear what you're asking for. Are the shows literally called "Something s2 e15" in your TV guide? If that is the case, unfortunately NextPVR is not going to strip it off for you. It'll just think that is the name of the show. Where are you getting your guide data from?

Yuck. This whole process sounds like a pain in the arse to me Big Grin (I record, watch, delete, no complicated processes like this)

You can, but it's a bit technical. You can change colors etc in the skin files found in C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data\Skin\Default. I think you're talking about the 'Selected_Recording' in global.xml. HOWEVER...be warned, any changes you make to the skin files will be overwritten each time there is a new upgrade installed (so you'll need to be prepared to re-do those changes if you want to keep them)

Hi there and thanks for the reply.
Well... the "something" is some random tv show title. I am trying to record a tv show which EPG names are "something s2 e15", "something s2 e16", "something s1 e9", where Sx means season and E means episode. I can't seem to figure out how to tell NextPVR to record any tv shows named "something". I can select Search, type the tv show name, it gives me a list of episodes but I don't want manually to choose one by one to put them to record.
i just record some tv shows to keep them to watch as many times I want.
Thanks for the tip about changing the colours, i will try to change.

You’re describing a series recording. Once you do the search and get back that list of episodes, select one of the episodes. There is an option for RECORD SERIES. That will record each episode of a given show. If you want to see some of the options available, select ADVANCED instead. You can do things like only record new episodes, set the padding at the beginning and end, etc.

The reason that sub is asking about your guide source is there is logic in NextPVR to extract S/E information at the source from XMLTV and Schedules Direct and he might be able to accomodate this. Basically it is not needed in the title since NextPVR and other clients of NextPVR display this information independently.

Regarding AviDemux to mkv, sounds like you just need to find a better client than your are using.

To answer your question I believe there is pattern matching logic (there was previously) that allowed "Something *" to recording all recordings and skip text. If not in V5 you can create an advanced recording with title like "Something %"

You can go to the to the Search page of the web app, type "something" as the search timer, click "more options", then click "create recording". It'll record all shows with "something" in the name.

Where is your EPG data coming from? We'd like to understand why you've got the season/episode numbers as part of the name, and if anything can be done about that.
