I am attaching the NPVR log files from this morning.  (I attempted to upload the Winevt logs but the file is too big at 12.2 MB.) The NPVR schedule for April 28 was a 02:44 AM update of the EPG and at 04:30 AM recording of "Cash Cab".  Here is what happened according to the logs:

02:44 Update EPG - Nrecord.log shows this worked.  On other days the EPG may or may not get updated.

04:30 Record "Cash Cab" - This did not record.  A wake timer was in place.  The NPVR Client (NextPVR.exe) user interface list the recording but states "No errors, but no data delivered.  This is usually because the device failed to lock a signal."  Our antenna is only a few kilometers from the transmitting tower for this channel.  In previous tests, the computer will record from this and other channels when the computer is awake but not when it is asleep.

Your assistance is appreciated.  Drew[attachment=undefined][attachment=undefined]

You should use the web page to get logs since zipping the folder doesn't get cached info.

I am not seeing any sleep events being sent to NextPVR. Are your running the service or manually starting NextPVRServer.exe? Is your PC even going to sleep?

Cash Cab failed because of a driver error

2022-04-28 04:30:19.331 [DEBUG][4] Unexpected error on ATSC put_TunerRequest: 0x8000FFFF

You EPG update is failing too because of socket errors, minutes after it started, I continue to think that you have power management issues and NextPVR is doing everything it can.

I ran NPVRSetup.exe again to make sure everything is in place correctly and rebooted.  Then I ran another test recording just after 9 am today and the computer did not wake as in the past (logs attached).  Here is what I confirmed:

- Task Manager shows the following are running: NPVRTray (32 bit), NextPVRServer and NextPVRService (32bit). For NextPVRService the Service listing shows that if this service fails no action is taken.  I do not do manually start any service.

- Powercfg.exe /waketimers shows that there are wake timers for the test recording after 9 AM today as well as those for this evening.

- This Dell Inspiron 15 5510 only used sleep state S0 with network connected as per powercfg /A (Available sleep states) and my review of the BIOS.  From what I have read this means the computer does not go into a traditional sleep state as would happen with S3.  Rather it goes into Modern Sleep which sounds more like an idle state of some sort.  Looking on the web I found lots of issues with waking a computer that uses modern sleep. ( e.g. https://www.tenforums.com/general-suppor...sleep.html )

Recordings take place if I set the sleep timer to never and not invoke sleep by pressing the power button, closing the lid or using the power button in the Start menu.  I will have to be the setting I use until this non-waking is solved.  I suspect that as more computers come with S0 there will lots of wake timer issues in the future.

Drew

Since NextPVR isn't going to sleep or waking perhaps you can stop your network device from idling in this mode, since that seems to be the main problem.

I used Regedit to enable "Neworking connectivity in Standby" for Power Option in Control Panel. I confirmed that it is already "Enabled" when plugged in and Managed by Windows on battery.

I have read about many problems with SO. The only solution I found is to set the sleep timer to Never in Power Options. This lets recordings and EPG update function but is a work around for the machine not waking.
