pluto tv recordings just space travel thing and not completing

im trying to future record channel 720 on pluto, as in ahead of the stupid 4-6 hour guide nonsense and i cant figure out  why i keep getting only the pluto tv busy type screen. I can watch the streams fine and schedule recordings fine but everything isnt actually recording or it seems to record and play the first few minutes and then goes to the busy screen and then playing just repeats the first recorded part and trying to jump to later in the recording just fails. Ive attached the logs but when i look an nrecord log it looks like it finds the recording but then isnt getting the right show listing.

Just for background im a rodeo and pbr fan and literally now the only place i can watch anything is on the pbr channel on pluto. Pbr though is absurdly rediculous with when and if they put recent live events up ondemand and since 99% of the rodeo world is in the midwest and i live on the east coast it means almost all of these events are 3 or more hours behind me and since most dont start until 8-10pm CST that means id have to stay up until mid night or later just to see these events. Then i found my favorite pvr app could actually record pluto and though my problems were solved, but at this point im thinking pluto tv is the issue with this one channel not working properly.

Are you clicking download from the VOD menu? Also what version of streamlink are you using?

the VOD stuff works fine, im trying to watch a manual recording where i go into recordings and click play. Im running the most recent version of streamlink but i had downloaded the x86_64 version and thought maybe that was an issue so im in the process of removing everything including npvr and im starting from scratch with the entire process and using only the streamlink x86 install.

Reinstalling NextPVR would be a waste of your time.

I actually don't remember how to setup PlutoTV which makes support a little difficult but if you can watch via streamink

im also doing npvr because i had been using 4 then i rebuilt my media pc and didnt want to lose my setup so i reinstalled 4 but then relaized the pluto tv extra is meant for 5 so i installed 5 on top. and im taking any wonky from having both cludge installed together out of the equation.

Make sure you test playback with NextPVR or Kodi to avoid issues that might be related to transcoding.

I did a command line test and I think there is a bug in the plugin for that channel, not sure about others.

I tried this old version of the plugin https://raw.githubusercontent.com/stream...s/pluto.py

does work but no doubt it will break other things so it is worth reporting this issue on github https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/issues

For now you need to choose which you want.

oh you think the bug is with streamlink? That program doesnt seem to output any logs at all let alone informative ones like npvr.

Not with streamlink with the plugin pluto.py There are lots of ways of getting verbose errors, but running the command line I gave you shows one error.

Replacing pluto.py with the older one using the old API should give you output

i think part or all of my problem is the guide data not being properly updated. I had been using a windows scheduled task to call the updateepg bat file to generate the xmltv listings but just now realized that while it worked all it was doing was just generating the guide data and not actually importing into npvr. The plutotv extra guide's section on incremental updates with the postloadepg bat file doesnt seem to be reliable either and theres no visual reference as to if its actually started the process or when its running if it is except im not seeing my guide update correctly on the 180 intervals.

How is the guide data imported as far as the backend is concerned? Id like to just set up a windows task to generate and import the guide. With v5 being mostly web based now im wondering if theres just an url or a command i can run from my own bat file to update the guide myself.
