I am in UK using an Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD DVBT Tuner,  there are many radio channels available as part of freeview programs (DVB-T)

I found those radio channels can be successfully played via KODI nextPVR client (in Radio) without problem but on sevrer PC in windows using nextPVR desktop app most will either not playing,  playing but no sound, or simply crash the desktop app.

I tried to change the decoder setting in audio decoders, but there are not many choices to select (either LAV audio decoder or Microsoft DTV-DVD decoder),  it doesn't change the symptom.  also no change check "only use mapped audio decoders during .ts playback" on or off

Here is the log attached in my reply below,  Any suggestion what happened?

I don't typically use DVB-T radio stations myself. I'll set some time aside before the next release to check it, and try to improve support for it.

Did the radio stations work in the web app?

Radio (watch and listen) was broken in NextPVR.exe which sub fixed for 5.2.7 are you running the current version? Attaching logs is much better than snippets since we get a better picture and don't have to ask extra questions.

Thanks Sub and Martin for the quick reply, I am using the 5.2.7.220410 version of nextPVR.
i just tried web app and it will play the station fine.
also kodi says the codec is MP2 1.0 64kps

Here is the full logs for your information, i thought snippets would be easier

The logs show the traffic is very bursty, only receiving data every 6 seconds or so.

Is it only happening Live TV, or also when playing back a recording from a radio station? (If the latter, I'll get you to supply a sample recording)

I never tried playing recorded radio station, if you provide me a sample, i would test it.

I also would like to report that now i found several other TV channel suffering from problem playing through desktop APP as well, they are all playable via web client, but on the desktop app, it either stutter or doesn't even play at all, or clearly that in the first 30seconds or so the audio and video is out of sync. So i think it's clear the problem is in the desktop app client, not the server. All those are tested on the sever PC running windows 10.

On the other hand, when the desktop APP does work, i found the picture quality is better than web client, for HD channels at least (non HD channel has bad quality already and hard to tell), wondering if the web client goes through some transcode while desktop app doesn't. but in the server setting i already set streaming profile to default and selected "Avoid transcoding where possible (for better performance)"

Sub is suggesting scheduling a recording on one of your radio streams (they works just live TV, but you might need to great a manual recording) and then see if playing the recording works ok.
