Hey there.

Brand new to nextPVR, but most of this stuff makes sense to me, generally.

However - struggling to do something that seems obvious and simple and having little luck. Nor am I am having any success with coming up with the right search terms to find a good answer....

Trying to filter channels/groups in the webUI. That's it.
My XMLTV file has 7000+ entries - and I want to widdle it down to about 500ish, across different groups.

I have several times tried using the channel tab in the admin ui and simply deselecting all but the ones I wanted to have, no dice.

Do I need to run my M3u8 and XMLTV files through an external editor and only load up what I want into NextPVR?
Would love to avoid another step, but can do that if needed.

Really just curious if I have missed something incredibly obvious or something.

Thanks in advance!

Did you use the filter by groups option when you imported the m3u to select only the groups you want? If not maybe delete the entry holding the control key and start over.

Thanks, appreciate the quick response...
I deleted the whole rig and started over and tried to filter on the way in. I swear I must be missing something obvious as it's still no dice.

Too many groups. By the time I get through deselecting the 170 groups I don't care about, the UI is out of whack and pressing save still bring in all the channels

I'll keep mucking around. Has to be user error.

When you click import, enter your m3u and xml urls, then click Import, it'll download the list and show them. Before clicking Save, click the 'Filter by Channel Group' dropdown, untick the 'select all', then only tick the groups you're interested in, then click Save.

ie, the filtering looks kind of like this: https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid540997

My challenges are pretty much identical to the OP of that thread actually.

I can not get the groups to not add up front for the same reason as that OP. Even if I use spacebar and down arrow to navigate the "save" button vanishes when the list is too long and you have to add again to get it back. At least that's what's happening to me on initial import.

But if I do let them add, I can at least go back to the channels tab like unselect all a ton of groups. Screenshot

But... de-selecting them at least appears like it does nothing? I still have all the channels there.

I presume if I just let them add them all and then manually de-select channels one at a time for an hour or so, it will work. But I can't bring myself to do it.

I appreciate the help. I remained convinced there is something obvious that I just haven't put together yet.

Kind of crazy that I had this whole thing running, and working and recording/playing back from jellyfin in like 30 minutes...
But it's been a couple of hours just trying to sort the guide down to something that only has 500ish or show channels and I'm still at square one!

Thanks again for getting back to this random internet stranger. I do appreciate it!

Hit select twice to deselect all.

NextPVR is primarily a PVR so channel manage as never been an issue. IPTV providers have made it that much worse by providing huge lists where there often more groups then people have traditionally have had channels. Even your plan for 500 channels is a bit on the insane side.

It's usually really painless for me, and I can setup from scratch with IPTV, and filtered channels in like 2 minutes.

It's weird that the group names are wrapped like that. What browser are you using, and what resolution are you running your desktop at?

You could edit iptv.html, and add the following lines in the <head> section:

Code:
<style>
        ul {
            width: 300px;
        }
</style>

This should stop the groups from wrapping, so you can see a lot more of the groups on the screen.

When you click the 'Filter by Channel Groups' button, and the popup group list appears, if you untick "select all" at the top of the group list, it should unselected all channels. ie, if you click the 'Filter by Channel Groups' button again, so the popup disappears, you should see all the channel behind it unselected. When you click 'Filter by Channel Groups' again, and tick a single group, only channel in that group should be selected etc.

One thing to be aware of though, if you've got like 70000 channels or some ridiculous number, and a slower machine, you browser might be a pretty slow to apply those ticks, so you may need to be patient. My a server on my i7 machine here, with 20000 channels is pretty instant, but I know when I'm interacting with a server running on my much my NAS backend, it's much slower and I need to be patient.

Here is what the filtering should look like with an IPTV provider. Note the groups are listed on a single line, and they have a scroll bar, so you can tick the few groups you're interested in. This screenshot shows 'select all' unticked, than only 'CA: Rodgers TV' ticked.
