Hi, I have set up a NextPVR instance in a VPS.

Everything is set up and works great except for actually playing back or recording a stream. The error is:

Code:
[56] ConnectToURL: http://IPTVURL:80/.../File.ts?....
[56] WebException: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.
   at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse()
   at NShared.IPTVRecorder.ConnectToURL(String url, Int32 depth)

This only happens in NextPVR though, and only with the direct URL.

If I use Xteve or similar to restream it, it loads perfectly fine in NextPVR.

I think my provider is blocking the User-Agent. Is there a workaround? Thanks!

What user agent does xteve use? NextPVR does uses a rather arcane user-agent the last I looked but you can override it with the m3u user-agent= parameter or a #EXTVLCOPT line.

Thanks for the quick reply!

The default user-agent in xteve is "xTeVe".

I will try editing the M3U by hand, although it is currently being dynamically updated once per day by my provider so I'd likely need to find a way to do it automatically if possible.

It might be possible that my VPS is IP-banned, although I'll try to narrow that down.

I would be surprised they are restricting an old version of vlc then. I suspect the problem is the provider changing the m3u everyday. NextPVR does allow a way of updating that daily but there is not way of filtering the unnecessary channel.

You can have an m3u on disk too and change it with sed. You could build that into UpdateEPG.sh

Martin,

Thanks for the info - it turns out my second suspicion was correct. The box was IP-rate-limited from the provider as the previous PVR service I was using (TVHeadend) had a configuration error that sent new requests every few seconds.

I have finally gotten everything working and am loving NextPVR!

Thanks again.
