Roku Version 11 OS Reports

After a quick install and test, initial operation on Roku 11.5.0 appears seamless. 

I will keep you updated if I discover issues. But it fired right up and played a previous recording without issue.

Thanks for the report Chuck. Each Roku OS release I hold my breath, but I only fire up the Roku to redo the test channels so it is good to know things are good right now.

Since I only am running on this one device so far, I cannot determine if issues are general or specific to 11.5.0. So I'll report anyway.

I think I saw this somewhere else in the forum. If closed captions are on (I have hearing trouble so they always are), then hitting up or down arrow to attempt to display the channel selection overlay (mini guide) causes interference.

It appears to me that the two overlays (cc and channels) are using the same overlay mechanism, so it flickers back and forth as they each update themselves. CC is turned on with * key on Roku remote.

Not sure that anything can be done about this, and it is likely a problem on all versions. Turning off CC allows mini guide to display. Easier to hit back to exit program and select from full guide.

In general UI clients rendering of subtitles on all platforms with the mini guide will be design issue. NextPVR won't even know where on the screen the captions will be appear. Even if there was server side rendering it would be a pain

The long * number pad menu is a little smaller for tuning by numbers but it might flicker too and I am not sure how to enter ATSC number, you might even need to remap them to pseudo numbers like on a cable STB.

Given the slow tuning speed on the Roku's in Live TV zapping between channel is probably not something you do often. Maybe create a channel group of your absolute favourite channels and use the FF/RW to change them?
