On V4 during playback if Skip forward or backward was used, the skip was usually smooth and audio/video in sync.

On my new V6 build I'm seeing different behaviour (for which I'm getting verbal grief from the main system user[wife Smile ])

When skip is pressed the playback jumps and audio starts but the video is out-of-sync for 2-5 seconds.

Sometimes when pressing skip, the playback freezes for 20-30 seconds then suddenly jumps to the correct point.

Obviously if playback hangs like this the user (not being technical) starts pressing buttons on the remote (thinking playback has been paused) and this leads to other issues.

I have the latest LAV (0.77.2) installed and selected for playback (which is pretty well the same as was in use on my old V4 system).

Are there any tweaks that I should make to the LAV config to improve this or is this likely to be a NVPVR issue?

I've had a look through the logs and can't see anything that looks odd around the Skip timings although I'll will get the wife to note the exact time when it happens again so I can extract the relevant section from the log if that will help.

We like to look at the logs too. We can't really do anything without them.

.zip   NPVR.zip (Size: 5.07 KB / Downloads: 2)
It is happening again this morning. Pressing Skip forwards (or back) the playback freezes for 30-40 seconds then resumes at the skip point.

I can't see anything odd in the logs but have attached.

the Skip was triggered at about 11:53:18

I also see "File in use. Maybe still recording." in the log but this was a completed recording from yesterday.

It doesn't look like you have the LAV Video drivers installed.

What's in the log that indicates that?

I definitely have the LAV software installed and it's shown/selected in the setup screen

It didn't show up there when I did the build until I installed LAV.

It shows you using Microsoft video. Maybe you installed LAV 64 bit.

I didn't chose a specific LAV 32/64 bit. The installer decided so I don't necessarily know which one's there.

Why would this need 32bit on a 64bit machine?

Can I manually install 32 bit as well as 64bit and if I do, will NVPVR select the right one?

NextPVR.exe is a 32 bit application and can only use 32 bit decoders. If it is installed and configured for all video types NextPVR should use it.

I'll go back and manually check the LAV install (once it's finished recording Celebrity Mastermind) Fiddling with the system at the moment would get me shot  Wink

Ok double checked everything and the LAV install.
Looks like 32bit & 64 bit LAV are installed.

The playback now shows

Graph filter list:
2023-04-29 18:45:49.199 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR PES Collector (Teletext)
2023-04-29 18:45:49.199 [DEBUG][1] - EVR Renderer

2023-04-29 18:45:49.199 [DEBUG][1] - NPVR TS Reader 5

Still getting this intermittent freeze on skip.

Extract of log shows Skip at 19:19:17 where playback of audio/video freezes.
Gave up waiting for recovery at 19:21:23 and pressed the Stop key.
Can't see any obvious error in the log.

Is LAV used for playback of .TS files?
