I went into Settings>Access, scrolled down to Application Access, and put a 7 letter PIN in the PIN Code field.
Allow Remote Access is ticked.
Unauthenticated Access is not ticked.
There is no Save button.
Then, on the phone app, with wi-fi disabled, I selected ADD SERVER, put in the ip:port and the same PIN as above. Then selected the server from the list of one, waited and saw "Failed to connect to NextPVR. Check NextPVR is running and r..."
I repeated with a 6 number PIN, same result.
How can I check that the PIN is being accepted on the settings page?
How can I check that the PIN is being accepted on the app ADD SERVER screen?
(There is no option to clear the app data via the phone settings.)

Worse case, you can always delete the app and reinstall it.

If I change the pin in settings then toggle one of the tick boxes, I see in the nrecord.log "Updating pin code".
If I set both pins to 0000, in the log I see "defaut pin not allowed" which suggests that the pin is set at both ends, but to be sure I changed the app pin and it still says "default pin not allowed" so that message is dependant on the server pin, not the app pin. So I have no idea if changing the pin on the app is working at all.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app but the server ip is still displayed. I could do with a way of clearing the app data, and ideally a way of confirming that the pin is set correctly.

I'll be honest, it's unlikely I'm going to make any changes to the app anytime soon. It's been years since I changed it, and I'm not even sure I have a working Android device these days.

If you want to PM me your ip address and pin, I'll confirm if I can connect with those details.

So I tried clearing the app data from within the app settings, then re-entered the server ip:port and the PIN I had already set up, and now it does log in. The headers/tabs show but the screen below is blank, e.g. I select guide, the time bar is displayed, but no channel info. I restarted the NextPVR service as the log was no longer being written to, then after a couple of failed attempts the app connected very quickly and displayed the channel list, everything else seems to work fine.
So it looks like the PIN is not overwritten when the same server ip is re-added, perhaps the easiest way to deal with this would be to allow deletion of the server from the list so it can then be re-added with the correct PIN.

In my experience from the very beginning testing with multiple servers, it is easier to stop the NextPVR Android client task and clear the data (not uninstall) and renter sub made some headway in that but area I never really knew what server I would get when picking them.
