having a difficult time installing latest version

Long time user here.  My setup was not behaving correctly so I decided to install from scratch.
When installing the latest version, I get this error in the temp folder install log:

2023-07-22 12:19:43.511 [DEBUG][9] Unexpected error during install: System.ArgumentException: The path is not of a legal form.

  at System.IO.Path.GetFullPathInternal(String path)
  at System.IO.DirectoryInfo.Init(String path, Boolean checkHost)
  at UpdateNPVR.InstallForm.DoUpgrade()
2023-07-22 12:19:43.511 [DEBUG][9] Other 'The path is not of a legal form.'

Where is NextPVR installed on your machine?

c:\program files\nextPVR (default)

I can't see any reason that'd be a problem.

Since you're trying to install from scratch, maybe try manually deleting these two directories:

c:\program files\nextpvr
c:\users\public\NPVR-data.

then rerun the installer.

Well that didn't work but thanks for the suggestion. Install works fine on my other machine so it's mostlikely something in my windows setup

Is there a way to force the install to another directory?

Do you have a NEXTPVR_DATADIR_USERDATA environment variable set? (you shouldn't need it, but I'm just trying to follow the things in the installer code that might have caused a problem)

In theory, at that point in the install, it has completed the install. Have your tried viewing http://localhost:8866/index.html?

no specific variables for nextpvr in the system environment variables
