Is there a way you could implement a way to indicate if a file has had an interruption or completed ok after the recording process finishes?

I use channelsDVR, but only in rare cases that I can't get solid results here on NPVR. They have that feature the shows whether it was delayed or interrupted during the recording process.

I prefer NPVR or anything else, as I've been using it for years. It's served me well so I help support it monthly.

It would just be a nice layer of protection and peace of mind when wondering if the recording finished ok. That way I can make sure everything recorded can go into the archives. Another reason I prefer NPVR is due to the recordings being written in .ts instead of .mpg like channelsDVR does.

Thank you for such great software and thanks for your time!
Much appreciated!

Which client are you talking about? Some NextPVR clients do tell you when it is zero bytes, when it fails because the recording service was not running and when it cancelled early. When it finishes there is no message which is the same is OK, although it doesn't guarantee a good recording because of signal etc.

From what I've seen the only missing message is when an IPTV recording stops delivering data. What message is missing for you?

Note though NextPVR doesn't have a delay or restart, it only starts recording on time and ends recording. Some other PVRs do start late if a tuner is available and restart on failure, but I find those confusing, and prefer conflict resolution.

95% of the time I just use the webUI with the local ip in firefox. When I want to play something back I usually do it in windows explorer with VLC.

The feature in channelsDVR I was referring to was something similar to the display type in this screenshot https://imgur.com/I4TqPD0

I don't necessarily need to see all the extra stuff, the request was mostly just to identify if an IPTV with a TVE account was interrupted. Something just to quickly identify any interruptions to the recording. I have a couple of IPTV subscriptions loaded, and also use channelsDVR to pipe the m3u from TVE into NPVR.

I've used NPVR for years and haven't noticed such feature. Is there such thing I've overlooked or is it a possibility to see something like this related, other than just 0kb in explorer? I do see weird filesizes sometimes in NPVR which are usually indications that it didn't complete properly. Usually it's due to interrupted IPTV signals.

That's where I was wondering if there was a way to quickly see which recordings were affected? Those are typically the ones that have abnormal file sizes that freeze at some point during playback, or repeat the same segment at any point when advancing into the video.

I have so many good things to say about NPVR and I really appreciate your development. This is just a small thing that I can deal with if you feel it's unnecessary. I do appreciate your software and thank you so much for everything. I'll keep sending people to NextPVR as my first and prioritized choice! Smile

Sub it the only developer of NextPVR and he doesn't always comment on wish list items. I noted that NextPVR doesn't record when a tuner stops delivering data, but it should already identify when the filesize is zero. This is definitely more common with IPTV and it could be handy.

There is a little difference with the web interface too, NextPVR.exe and UI client do show warning messages while the web UI only shows errors, this might be another area sub could look at.

Clearly your best solution is to figure out why your IPTV service is doing such a bad job of delivering quality data.

If you want to PM me a link to a copy of your database (it does contain IPTV credentials) it does include the filesize so I can so if there is something else NextPVR might be missing.

You'd typically already get an red message in the web interface to tell you if a recording received no data, or if the recording was stopped early (like machine rebooted, or recording service restarted during the recording).
