I recently upgraded to Version: 6.1.4.230625, and I started noticing some long cpu usage going on after programs recorded.

I saw that ffmpeg was converting my antenna stream to .mp4, which is awesome -- I wanted this because I set the option for "Recording Auto Transcode" to 1080p (.mp4) on the Transcode settings.   The thing is that the ffmpeg process is still running after 2.5 hours on my machine.

I would like to change the options that are used to run ffmpeg in this case to use a pre-defined profile (e.g. ultrafast).  Can I do that?

Attached are the logs.  Search for "2023-09-19 12:02:00.404"

Thanks, John

It looks like you are mixing the auto transcode with post processing. You need to choose one or the other.

If you want to use ultrafast you would need post processing and to do it yourself based on these time ultrafast may not be that fast, you PC looks very slow.

If your main goal is to use the Roku devices note you probably don't need to transcode the video which is taking most of that time. Examples are in the Roku section. Web playback will need transcoding.

ffmpeg is used a lot too for thumbnails and timing files you probably can't tell which specific instances of ffmpeg are running but I can't tell your why the price is right is taking so much longer then one that finished. It looks like your PC is very slow.

thanks guys. based on all this I am going to use my PostProcessing script. The main goal is to use mp4 for my recording instead of the native ts stream since the performance is better with mp4's on the Roku devices with searching.

The CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor -- not "slow" per se but it won't power a small city either..
