Evaluation of the Roku app on OS 12.0.0 working good.
Record and playback works a expected, no issues.
TV guide and setting recordings work as expected.
Video quality is outstanding!
Live TV works, but can only pause or resume live TV, timeshifting is not available. Channel overlay works good.
I may be nitpicking about the live TV not able to timeshift, but for me the Roku TV has it's own timeshift feature, I would use the app
mostly for watching recordings.
Keep up the good work Martin!

Thanks for the report.

One of the settings should enable timeshifting, I don't recall the setting name but I will check later this week when I rebuild the quarterly update. For the Roku it is transcoded since NextPVR doesn't support remuxed m3u8 streaming.

I thought the Roku app streams in direct play. When the server is offline a menu appears on the Roku app which you can toggle direct play true or false plus a few other settings.
On the server PC when using the Roku app the task manager shows a CPU level of 1 to 4 percent at most when watching recordings or live TV, so it appears the server is not
transcoding. Usually running any video app that uses transcoding jacks up the CPU to 30+ percent or more. Very interesting.

Right it does support direct play but you need to turn off direct play if you want timeshifting (or if your device doesn't support AC3).

The main reason for this is the Roku devices have crappy h/w and demux support for ts files. When direct play is disabled, the Roku plays Live TV using the m3u8 file which can be timeshifted but NextPVR forces transcoding to a web compatible format. If you want direct play and timeshifting use another platform.
