nextpvr video file help on nas

Hi all. My docker knowledge is less than 1 out of a 100, I’m a copy/paste and hope it works.

Sorry if this line isn’t allowed but I have a terramaster Nas running TOS 5.1 (my 1st actual NAS) I have an app called docker manager.

I have managed to install nextPVR, I have my tuner setup, I have it up and running and have recording working…. Congrats to me….. so far so good. I can see my recordings WITHIN the nextPVR webgui and can play them back, but the folder looks empty. No files at all. Reading up it looks like it’s a user/ permissions issue.

I think that docker is running the app as root, yet the only user on my NAS I’d mine….. let’s say Fred.
In docker manager I can see a tab called “variables” is it possible to add users/ permissions from here?

It does sound like file access permissions, but why not ask on the Terramaster forum? When you the created mappings for /recordings and /buffer you have the option of use mapping a share or a native volume. The recommended solution is to use the volume, so let them know what you did.

You also don't have to run the NextPVR Docker as root there are command line parameters that control that, I run mine as "nobody" so my files are open on guest shares. Another Docker recommendation is to not run as root but configuring that is not really NextPVR related.

I thought it may be more a docker/nextpvr issue. The one site I have found for terramaster looked like it wanted to charge to join also thought there was more chance of nextpvr users installing in a docker than terramaster users installing nextpvr.  

I’m not sure how to install via a non root user. I’m only assuming that this is the issue from reading other people’s issues.

No it is not a NextPVR issue at all, as you noted NextPVR is working. It would be likely be a question of how you set up your share access permissions Setting up Docker as non root may or may not be trivial. There is a -u parameter if you know your users on Terramaster otherwise it involves using Linux ID's

I expect the resolution will be along the lines shown here https://forum.terra-master.com/en/viewto...=51&t=3373 maybe run as PGID=6 as they suggest and make sure you are in that group too.

That doesn't seem to be a pay site but it might be worth it if you can't figure it out on your own.
