Possible to get NextPVR recordings as VOD in 3rd party IPTV app?

Hello,  I have been using a 3rd party IPTV app on my Fire TV Cube 3rd gen called 'Tivimate'

Have been using it to watch Live TV, as I have a micro-stutter problem when viewing Live TV in the Kodi NextPVR addon.
(specifically when watching STB channels from my Colossus 2 card)

For whatever reason I seem to be sensitive to this micro-stutter.

Done a ton of messing around with limited success, as the issue seems to be one with Kodi itself when running on Fire TV.

Two things seem to help with the stutter.
1. Disabling hardware video decoding on my fire TV Device.
But doing this prevents me from playing 4K content in real time.

2. In Kodi enabling the 'sync audio to video' option.
But this nukes passthru audio.

I am certain this is no issue of NextPVR, but an issue unique to the Fire TV Client device/ Kodi combination.

So, I have NextPVR serving up m3u and xmltv to my IPTV client, and it all works very well indeed for the purpose of Live TV.

I am even more bemused at how fast it changes channels, which is fast, and I have timeshifting and pause of live TV.

It's weakness though, is the recording functionality, which actually works rather sterling, but does not have any concept of device in use logic, so when you change channels, you stuff your recording in
progress.

So, I use NextPVR UIdroid and  the web interface of NextPVR to schedule my recordings.

However, it would be an even better solution if I could view my NextPVR recordings inside the IPTV client itself.

Is that even possible?

Do you have the microstutter in uidroid? It should be using the same player as Tivimate.

As for Timeshift, does Tivimate even support it? The URL that NextPVR provides does not support timeshift. If there is timeshift they must be using an internal buffer so perhaps your issues is your network.

There is a recording URL http://localhost:8866/service?method=recording.m3u but you won't be able to save resume points etc.

No, I don't see the micro stutter in uidroid, it plays the content just as well as Tivimate.

Ah yes, you are quite correct.  I forgot to mention that I am using the m3u proxy Xteve.

I have the NextPVR feeding Xteve the URL's, then Xteve is in turn feeding Tivimate.
I originally setup Xteve to try out PlexDVR with NextPVR.
It works OK, but channel changing is extremely slow for STB channels.

Yes, the pro version of Tivimate supports timeshifting and recording.
The problem being that unlike NextPVR, Tivimate does not know when a tuner is in use.

Really, I did not know that, but was kind of hoping there was something like that.

I believe the microstutter is unique to FireTV/Kodi,  as both uidroid and Tivimate do not do it .
I have NVidia Shield also, and it does not do the micro-stutter on that using Kodi.
(so maybe the issue may only affect 32bit clients?)

The stutter is quite weird, and exhibits itself as a kind of freeze for an instant, and skips frames.   Sometimes I see a kind of vsync type issue where the very bottom of the screen has vertical tearing symptoms.
Only does it on STB channel content.

I even tried locking the FireTV Cube at 50hz, and setting Kodi to 50hz, and it still does the micro stutter.
So to me, it must be a codec thing happening with Kodi, as I see the micro-stutter with both live tv with timeshifting, and in the resultant nextpvr recording when viewed inside kodi itself on the Cube.

Kodi on Shield works excellent with Kodi, and no micro-stutter,  but I have a few issues with CEC on the shield, and my equipment often powers on incorrectly.
I have 3 Fire Cubes, so are very family friendly, and as I have 3 of them I am kind of committed to the platform if you know what I mean.

I discovered that Kodi has audio bug to to with passthru audio on Fire TV Cube, which there is a patch on Kodi Omega.
I tried the beta 2 of Omega, and it greatly improves the stutter, but does not fix it.
Perhaps when Omega is finally released it might tho?

Anyway, cheers for that great suggestion regarding the recording method URL.
I will indeed be testing that.

So you already use uidroid for scheduling and uidroid plays your channels fine, maybe it is just me but I  can't see most users bothering with all that nonsense and paying for Tivimate  to get less functionality.

Update:

I managed to import recording.m3u from NextPVR into Tivimate.
Unfortunately tho, it does not seem to play any of the streams.

So, as you suggest, why settle for less functionality.

Update 2:

Been using NVidia Shield TV as primary client.

All my niggling issues just simply vanished.
No micro-stutter whatsoever.

Annoyingly the Fire TV Cube 3rd gen has a serious firmware issue that affects passthrough audio with Kodi, and that causes the micro-stutter.
You can disable passthrough, but even then it still gives the odd stutter.

The annoying part is that I have three of the 3rd gen cube's, and for the software combo's I like (Kodi/NextPVR Addon)  it pretty much smegs up the experience entirely.

I have my cube's temporarily rooted, as I like a 3rd party launcher, as I can not stand being bombarded with ad's.
Amazon may have fixed the firmware issue affecting passthrough audio, but I would have to nuke my device's root to restore factory condition and then upgrade to latest firmware.

The 3rd gen Cube seems to have better image/colour reproduction than my Shield, and seems faster at channel changing and playing streams.
However the shield just has phenomenal stability, and just works.

So, just thought I'd share that observation, and that the micro-stutter has nothing to do with NextPVR.
