Hello, All-

Every Thursday evening the computer refuses to hibernate after recordings are complete. Today I'm cleaning up the directory of recordings I have  already watched or are known to be re-runs.

This particular program scheduled for 7 PM Central Daylight Savings time every Thursday leaves files open after recording is completed at 8 PM and shows a 'Date Modified' as 8 PM. Attempting to delete the .ts, ts.map and .timing files results in a File Open and in use by NextPVRServer error (.xml file deleted successfully).  This error has been seen before but a restart of the computer allows the deletion of the files.

A program recorded an hour after the completion of the previous recording had no problem recording and all files successfully deleted. Other recordings do not exhibit the same problem as above.

Setup: Windows 10 Home 22H2 with 8 gigs RAM and plenty of hard drive space remaining. Tuner is HD Homerun Flex Duo.  Both tuners show as available.

Looking over the event logs do not show any errors. Looking for any ideas. Deleting the program from the scheduler and rescheduling does not fix the problem. Version is 6.1.4.230625.

Thanks.

Do you have NextPVR set to produce thumbnails after the recording? If so, the .ts, ts.map and .timing files etc are probably open while it produces the thumbnails for the recording.

There are thumbnails for the other recordings I have so I would have to say 'Yes'. It is not there for this program now but it is possible the file was not open when I did a multiple selection of the files to delete.

It can be set to "while recording" or "after recording". Even with "while recording", depending on the speed of your machine, it can take a bit longer than the recording, so good chance it's these.

If you absolutely need to hibernate immediately after a recording, you could set thumbnails to 'none' instead.

It is strange that with the other recordings this is not a problem even with programs on the same channel. I will change the setting ( I don't need the thumbnails ) and we'll see what happens next Thursday evening. Thanks.

What is this in the nrecord logs?

2024-03-29 12:28:18.855 [ERROR][46] IsComplete(): An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 8, position 83.

I'm curious if this is related to the open files? It is actually still filling running.

That error could be two things. (I wish you uploaded the zipped logs). You could be still using 6.1.4 which had a buggy first implementation of thumbnails or if you are using 6.1.5 it typically means a bad signal.

Here are a couple of log files if that will help.

Thanks.

My guess now is you are still on 6.1.4

Yes...Version is 6.1.4.230625. I haven't bumped up to the latest yet as I always have to start over on manual scheduling when I do so. If just turning off the thumbnail generation setting will allow me to defer updating I prefer to do that.

As an aside...when I update I get failed recordings where the HD Homerun tuner no longer is detected. So updates do not get installed right away.

Thanks.
