New Version Not Installing

I see this in my NextPVR...

Version: 7.0.0.241105  (7.0.1.241229 is available for download)

So I downloaded the helper using:

curl https://nextpvr.com/nextpvr-helper.deb -O

Then stopped my NextPVR service and tried to install but it tells me I have the latest version? I've not had this issue in the past. What am I missing?

sudo apt install ./nextpvr-helper.deb --install-recommends
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting 'nextpvr-helper' instead of './nextpvr-helper.deb'
nextpvr-helper is already the newest version (3.1).
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.

What you are missing is reading the instruction on the main thread or on the wiki, that is the install method and it is telling you the apt package 3.1 is installed.

For the update as explained here https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/nextpvr-helper try

sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb

sudo dpkg -i nextpvr-helper.deb

Thanks Martin. The main download link takes you to the "Install Information" post which doesn't mention what's in the Wiki. Perhaps the download link should be updated to point to the Wiki.

I managed to get it updated by using apt reinstall but yes dpkg would do it as well.

Actually this is the main link https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=59576 but I guess sub's summary which came later should mention both updates and installs but it does reference the wiki and that link.
