I'm trying to setup NextPVR and have a strange issue - If i can solve this i will have my perfect setup.
Im using Streammaster as a backend

If I try to channel up or down while watching something, if the new channel is part of the same IPTV subscription (1 connection) then it fails to turn over and goes back to the guide. If i come out of the channel and switch via the guide it works fine.

If i have channels on different IPTV providers it switches fine.

I can see from StreamMaster that the stream does stop before the next one trys to start

I see this issue in the native Next PVR client and Kodi

I tried pointing Kodi directly to StreamMaster via a IPTV plus in to see if the issue was with NextPVR or StreamMaster - When i do this the channel tuner over fine to the same IPTV provider so i think this is an issue with NextPVR rather than my backend

I have attached my NextPVR logs

I have checked that the timeshift was not enabled in Kodi but couldn't find a similar setting directly in NextPVR

I have tried an install of NextPVR on 2 windows machines and in Docker, I get the same result in them all.

Unable to test with none IPTV yet as I'm waiting for my tuners to arrive.

Are the number of the connections on that IPTV device limited to 1? It appears that NextPVR is using 2 connections and the provider is returning a 404 on the second connection.

Another issue you had was resetting the timeshift buffer to 0 secondss or a low number that won't help and will make all channels fail.

Hi Martin,

Yes the IPTV device is limited to 1 connection, so i guess its a case of the previous lock on the channel isn't released quickly enough before the new one starts.

I take it there is no way to overcome this within NextPVR by implementing any sort of wait or timeout increase which changing channel? I'm not sure if this product is still being actively developed or not.

Like i said if i use anything outside of NextPVR it switches channels fine but i guess that's because i don't have any buffer involved.

In theory, if i have more than 1 IP Sub (which i do i just haven't set them up yet) i will not see this problem when switching channels unless the other account is also being used.

Me changing the timeshift buffer to 0 was just messing around seeing if i could figure anything out myself. This has been reverted to 20 now.

Thanks for the clarification.

Sub the author would need to look at this, did you restart the server after limiting the connections. This stop does come after the second channel tunes

The connections have always been limited to 1.
I have just set up a dual sat tuner and can change channels fine when only 1 is in use but as soon as something is recording or a tuner is already in use i get the same issue on the second tuner and cannot change channel without going back to the guide.

I can see the stream drop out of my backend after 3-4 seconds of changing the channel, and then the channel closes back to the guide in the client after 13-14 seconds

If you are having problems with tuners as well as IPTV you need to upload the logs showing the tuning, different logic.

My mistake, although i am using tuners i'm still running it through my IPTV backend software so the number of streams can be controlled before it hits NextPVR as the children have access to X amount of channels via plex if that makes sense.

It doesn't make sense to me since I don't see how Plex fits into the picture. If you feed both Plex and NextPVR you will still have problems.

Sorry, i know i am confusing things. But that doesn't change the original issue with IPTV sources.

For the record. My current setup is as follows:

2 X IPTV sources, 6 X SAT>IP Sources, 2 X OTA sources
These all link into my backed "steammaster" via M3U playlists
Stream master controls all streams/channels and connection limits and M3U playlists

I then have 2 systems connection into to stream master
Plex, which only contains channels suitable for children with no DVR function - This is for a simple interface and my kids already know how to use plex
NextPVR - This is for use by the adults and allows the DVR function for the whole house with Kodi being the frontend user interface due to it being the best on the market that is Free.

Plex and NextPVR connect to stream master using M3U playlists so that the backend can control the number of streams as well as allow the same stream to be watched on a single connection.

So back to the issue im seeing:

I understand if there are no available streams when trying to channel up and down then it will fail and revert back to the guide.

However, if the channel I am trying to change to would be available from the disconnect of the one i have changed from, then I think there needs to be a longer wait period for the old connection to close to allow the new one to connect. Either via a setting to allow this feature or to provide a time-out value.

You certainly seem to have enough tuners, the issue is the channels available on the one connection IPTV server. Sub still will need to address that, it looks like a bug to me and I will try and duplicated it.

The confusion I have is if you have one of these stations on Plex there would still be no way for NextPVR to detect it. For these you likely would be better off exporting their m3u and xmltv from NextPVR for safety. This will guarantee recordings even if the channel was being watched in Plex (recordings have priority over live TV). I don't know anything about Stream Master it my make managing changing m3u files easier so I leave it to you to determine that after sub addresses the main issue.
