I have the latest NPVR installed. I get the EPG info from Schedules Direct daily. Recording has worked fine for a very long time. However a single show now refuses to schedule new episodes. I tried deleting the EPG and then downloading it again, but new episodes still don't show as being scheduled to record. I think I found the reason, but I don't know how to fix the issue.

When I look at an new, unrecorded episode in the EPG, I see that its "Originally Aired" date is stated to be prior to this episode's date (so this episode is no longer "new" and should not be recorded - I get that). But the problem is that when I look for the show episode on the stated Originally Aired date, the EPG does not show any episode occurring on that date at any time.

I don't understand how the Originally Aired date is not synchronized with the episodes that actually exist in the EPG. It is only happening for this one show (Nova on Public Television). All other recordings seem to be working fine.

I hope someone can explain what I need to do to somehow get the Originally Aired date corrected to agree with the EPG listings.

There is no known issues around this. Going by past experiences with these symptoms, I'm guessing you've either got these episodes recorded already, or have had them deletes previous recordings of them in the recent past, so it opts to not bother recording them again. If it's not that, then maybe the tuner is already in use at that time.

If you want to do an 'update epg' then post the logs, and let me know what show in particular isn't scheduling episodes, I'll check the logs for you. The logs tell me which episodes it find, and why it opts to not record each.

If you'd like it to forget the history of shows you've recorded/deleted in the past, then from the logged in NextPVR web app in the browser, you can enter this url in your browser:
Code:
http://localhost:8866/service?method=system.removehistory

The original air date comes from Schedules Direct. NextPVR is not looking at this for making any decisions about what to record.

When I setup The White Lotus last week, season 3 wasn't showing new, but it looked like an SD issue.

Thank you for responding. I will remove the history file as you described.
If I still have a problem, I will respond with the log files.
Again, Thanks!

OK, I Emptied the EPG using the Settings webpage. I then deleted the Recording History using your URL script. The script reported success.

I then updated the EPG and waited overnight for NPVR to perform scheduling again. I don't know when that actually occurs. NPVR was previously set (and still is) to schedule All New Episodes of the show NOVA. Today, I see that a NOVA episode on 2/16 was recorded. That single recording was set by myself previously, not NPVR's automatic scheduling process.

Today, when I do a Search for NOVA, I see new episodes occur on 2/19 @ 8:00PM and 2/26 @ 8:00PM. So I expect them to be recorded. But no episode appears in the Scheduler webpage nor does any show up red in the Search results webpage for NOVA. I don't understand this.

I have attached the logs from this morning as requested. I looked at nrecord.log.1, .2 and .3. In the .2 log there is no request for the new 2/19 episode, but instead that episode is requested for 2/23 @ 5:00PM (that still doesn't appear in the Scheduler webpage). That log does appear to be correctly requesting the new 2/26 episode but again, it is not shown in the Scheduler webpage nor as red in the Search results webpage.

I hope you can determine what's going wrong. Thanks.

Below is the NOVA episodes it found, and the reason each wasn't scheduled to record. ie, You've said only 'new' episodes, and these marked as repeats in your guide data (from Schedules Direct), including the 8PM episodes

So from what we can see here, NextPVR is doing all the right things.

If you believe the 8pm episodes are in fact new episodes, your options are:

- talk to Schedules Direct and ask why these episodes are not marked as new. They may be able to get it corrected in the upstream guide data.
- or, change your scheduled recording to record all episodes, not just new ones. If you'd specifically only like the 8pm episodes you know are new, you might want to set it to do a recurring timeslot recording, so only episodes near that time of the day are picked up.

It is a Gracenote issue if you go to tvlistings.zap2it.com and search NOVA you will see no new episodes in Austin but in Boston on WGBH and also here it is marked new.

Similar to my White Lotus issue, episode 3 is showing new but not the upcoming episode 2.
