I have been having problems with my Nextpvr client application.   Web app seems to work perfectly.  And the "other client" option in the web client menu works perfectly.  But the client *.exe crashes and I have delete the process and restart the server to clear the problem.

This all started a week ago when I was trying to fix an on-going audio sync problem when using the "NextPVR.exe".   The only way I could get playback of any show with proper audio sync was to use a 3rd party playback app like VLC OR the NextPVR WEB app OR the yauiclient.  But recently that app also started crashing.

Logs are attached.   I am now just leaving the server running and browsing the recorded shows folders using a 3rd party app for playback.   I AM able to use the web app but at this point using a 3rd party media player is what works best.  Yesterday after several days of work I also uninstalled Nextpvr completely and installed a new clean install.   No change still crashing.  (used Revo uninstaller and wiped all traces of NextPVR from system AND ran every windows 11 system check possible which shows no problems.

This all started several weeks ago when I was browsing this forum and found a recent post about continuing audio sync problems which is still un-resolved as of last night.  I fear all my attempts at fixing this may have made things worse ?   Huh

You have got NextPVR into a pretty bad state. Run the installer again but first make sure that there is no NPVR.zip in the folder with the installer and C:\Temp exists There could be mix on Win32 and x64.

If it still fails there will be an install.txt in C:\Temp zip that and attach it.

Installed again.  Same exact errors again.   (see screen shots in original note)

Attached are the two files that were created in the temp folder.  (made sure the folder was empty)  You'll see an "uninstall" text file there as I ran the NextPVR uninstall app.  I have tried in the past just re-running the install over the existing setup, and tried deleting with Revo uninstaller.  Just thought I give the built in NextPVR uninstall app a try.   No joy.   Must be something in my windows system ??

Have already gone thru the Windows OS looking for problems .. SFC . DISM  .. validated all the DLL files deep malware scans etc,  and so far everything is clean.

I DO have something newly installed here (A BitDefender Pro anti-virus suite)   That was the only new thing installed about 6 months ago.

FWIW, the "other client" option on the web app settings GUI works okay.  Seems all the "web based" coded stuff works just fine.  The only problem is the NextPVR.exe client.  That crashes and locks up the computer.   Have to do a cntr-alt-del and nuke the app to get the PC functional.

Nice to hear from you again.   Hope all is well with you up there in the North.

Attachments need to be zipped.

If the GUI works on the web I can't understand why yauiclient stopped worked, maybe send the NextPVR logs when you use it.

March is going out like a lion this year, but we've had tastes of spring. At least we get March Madness and a crazy election to watch right now, thanks for asking.

Sorry .. forgot to zip .. here they are.  Also I was wrong.  There are some problems with the Web UI.  There are intermittant problems with trying to skip forward.  Sometimes trying to move to the right or left pauses a few seconds or freezes completely.  Sometimes the keyboard left and right just doesn't work at all.  I'll try to move the position (to skip commercials) with the mouse and that will freeze it.  The worst is it will freeze and I can't close the window at all.  Have to kill the process.  The web and the Yaui client both have various issues.   The *.exe client completely crashes every start.

I'm back to using various media players which works okay.  Good thing .. In the middle of March Madness here.  Lots of basketball.  Big UConn basketball fan.   Girls team is looking good this year.

Good thing the server is working great and all the recordings are perfect.

Added the latest updated logs after a couple hours of recording and playback.   I have a thought.  Nextpvr web app is set to use my default browser.  I wonder if the navigation problems with the web based apps could be my browser.  I'll try changing my default browser to Windows Edge (which I never use)   Are you familiar with the "Brave" browser and it's AI based search engine?

Thanks I think sub will need to comment, it looks like your thumbnail and timing files are suspect which will break skipping. At the same time the Unmanaged.dll error is quite serious.

No I never used the Brave browser although I have heard about it but the issues are server sid anyway.

Here are a few things I've observed leading up to this point.

NextPVR started loosing it's connection with it's server months ago.  Became progressively worse over time.
Symptoms happen often any time day or night when I'm using the app OR when the PC is just running 24-7 unattended.

First thing in the morning I turn on the monitor and open the app to view what recorded etc. and I find all the recorded shows at some point have failed.  When I try to watch any of the shows that were recorded prior to the failure I get the crash as noted in my first post.

At that point the whole system is locked up and I can not get NextPVR to do anything.  Bottom line is all indications are showing the server process is running ... but the connection to it has failed.  Errors seen on the running NextPVR app show it has lost it's connection to the server.  Even though the process manager shows it is working okay I will manually "restart" the NextPVR server process.  That shuts down the running server process and restarts it.  And then all errors are cleared.  I then can close the displayed Nextpvr screen and run the app normally again (until it locks up sometimes minutes or hours later.)

And another possibly related problem was that I have a backup program (been in use for years) that does a couple automated incremental backups of my windows system and of important archival stuff stored on a 2nd installed data drive every morning at 4 AM.  And it was "failing" to work and my daily look at the windows reliabilty application would show the back up progam caused errors.  That BU app also automatically sends me an email of it's status every time it runs, giving me success or failure reports.  For years it worked fine.  But it also started sending me emails reporting the backup had failed.

So I disabled the auto backup and have doiing doing the backups manually.  Both the backup program (Aomei backup pro) and Nextpvr are using servers.

Sorry for the long detailed post here ... I'm thinking my problem has something with communications with the servers?  When I first install version 6 (upgraded from the old NextPVR vs 4) I had several issues.  And at that time I noticed somewhere that vs 6 of NextPVR supposedly worked best with the most recent  dot Network vs 6.  I was using .4 and when I upgraded my .net to .6 all the NextPVR issues went away.  It worked for a few months with only one on-going issue affecting the Npvr client.  Out of sync audio.   I've always had the out of sync audio problem but couldn't find a fix.  Then this new problem cropped up.

I'll check into the entire network area of my OS and see what's going on there.  Been tracking reliablity reports and there are dozens of failure reports over the last 7 days.  ALL are referencing problems with the NextPVR server and/or application.  Hope all this leads to some ideas.  As always, thanks for helping.

I guess it is possible that using "fancy" uninstallers you might have have uninstall some VC runtimes that Unmanaged.dll needs

Maybe download this from Microsoft

https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe

and run it manually just in case. Then restart the server and send the zipped logs.

Yeah, if it's unable to load Unmanaged.dll, I'd guess either
- you've some tried to install some old version of this dll from the forums over your install
- or as Martin said, you've somehow uninstalled the vcruntime files it needs. That link he supplied would hopefully help with that.
