Hi

Totally new to IPTV and NextPVR.  I am trying to get a the basic UK freeview channels working with a TV guide.
I am using this list from github

https://iptv-org.github.io/iptv/countries/uk.m3u

A lot of the obscure channels work, but most of the ones that I want to work such as BBC, ITV, Ch4 and Ch5 all give this error

No tuner was available for the requested channel

If I copy and paste the URL for BBC2 for example into my browser I get this error

403 Unauthorized
Streamer protection system doesn't allow you to watch this content.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it just the links in this list are no good or encrypted/protected?

Thanks

An error like that comes from the provider not NextPVR and it looks like someone posted a pirate provider URL that probably was taken down. The bottom line is don't trust iptv-org to always provide stable URL's. If you live in the UK and pay the BBC fee I posted this https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid596427 if you want to create and Extra for BBC. The iptv-org m3u still uses unofficial URL's from the CDN but the few I can access outside the UK have been stable.

Thanks for your reply. I thought it was probably an issue with the m3u list rather than your software. I am from the UK and pay my license fee, do you know if it is possible to get legitimate IPTV lists for UK channels? I have spent all day googling, but most of the stuff that I can find are clearly not legitimate
Thanks

I let users decide if using any IPTV provider they use is morally acceptable to them.  That BBC extra could work and I did write an extra that supports the streams from Filmon.tv https://www.filmon.tv/group/uk-live-tv that still works but I dropped support for it out of lack of interest from users maybe because of the streamlink requirement.

I you are interested you can follow the steps in post #1 here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=62052 and I will update the extra too since it does work for me,  ITV was taken out though.

Hi
I am clearly doing something wrong

I have installed Streamlink 7.2
Exited NextPVR in the tray and restarted it
Copied extra-filmon.xml into the NextPVR Data directory

I don't really understand step 4, this does not seem to link to xmltv guides?
4. Decide whether you are going to use Schedules Direct or XMLTV for you guide source. Free XMLTV feeds for this service is available from http://www.xmltv.co.uk/feeds For Schedules Direct using I found this "United Kingdom (extended) - Cable" had all the channels.

Nothing is appearing under devices in step 5?
5. From Settings->Devices selection either extra-filmon or extra-sdnames-filmom which should be in the list, if not hit the Refresh button and maybe Ctrl-F5

Are you able to help this newbie?

Thanks

Ignore the step about getting XMLTV or Schedules Direct. That is how to get EPG data and you can read about doing that on the wiki. That particular link for XMLTV is dead so I will remove it. There is a UK file here https://epgshare01.online/epgshare01/ but I didn't test it.

You cant restart the service from the tray. Confirm you put the XML file in C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data and clicked rescan and then ctrl-f5 and if nothing appears send the zipped logs if it doesn't show up.

If it shows up and you click save and nothing plays you probably set up streamlink incorrectly. Change the recording service to run as your username is probably the easiest way to do that.

Hi Martin
Thankyou so much. I now have the channels working. I had put the XML file in the NEXTPVR Data folder in Program files rather than in the public user directory. Still struggling with the EPG though.

I have tried this one
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dp247/...er/epg.xml

From here
https://github.com/dp247/Freeview-EPG?ta...me-ov-file

But when I try and update the guide there are 0 inserted, 0 updated and 0 skipped

Sorry I don't really support helping users set up XMLTV, it is the same for everyone. After finding a good source, you need to follow the wiki to automap by Name and then manually map each channel that are still showing as None. Then click update EPG.

After that you need to set up the UpdateEPG.bat file to download the XMLTV file and extract the tar or gz file if necessary on a nightly basis.

I've updated https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid600214 with a new extra that will map better to https://github.com/dp247/Freeview-EPG Use the trash can on the extra device and rescan to get the new names.
After that only BBC One needs to be automapped since I don't know which from the XMLTV is best. Let me know what you manually map with.
