Hi,
some time ago, the windows UI (nextPVR.exe) spontaneously started showing video out of synch with audio on recordings and on live watching.
I have updated the application since then and am now using version 7.0.1.241229.  The problem has got worse, with audio being ~10 seconds ahead of the video.   With live watching, the audio is not only out of synch, it also intermittently drops out.
The bizarre thing is that the recordings play back perfectly through the web interface or through VLC.  Live watching through the web interface is also good.
Following other posts on the forum, I changed ALL the decoders (audio & video) from default settings to LAV decoders.  This didn't improve the situation.

Can anyone tell me how to get nextPVR working properly?

Did you install the 32 bit LAV decoder (not 64 even if Windows is 64 bit). If you had posted the logs we wouldn't have to ask so save us work next time.

If LAV32 doesn't solve the problem maybe try yauiclient and see if it helps until sub has a chance to look deeper into this.

Thanks mvallevand,
I appreciate your advice.  To make sure, I uninstalled and reinstalled 32 bit LAV codec/splitter package.  After a restart, I tried 'watch live' on the windows UI (nextPVR.exe).  For a few seconds, playback was in synch, then it deteriorated, eventually becoming unwatchable.  I tried again and it was perfect.  The third time it was immediately out of synch.  Playback of recordings was out of synch with drop outs.

Recordings and live watch still work fine in the web interface.

Log files are now attached.

Regards,

OK maybe sub will see something there. My suggestion is to try yauiclient if you need a client with the NextPVR GUI.

Regards,

I suffered with this same problem for the last year.   NOTHING could be done.   I just lived with it or used a 3rd party media player to watch my longer duration recorded shows.   I DID recently FIX "my" sync problem.   Now my NextPVR is always in perfect sync.   Sadly, I'm a pretty old guy and have a short term memory thing going on and I can't remember all the details.   But here is what I CAN remember.  it's a problem with one of the LAV decoder settings.   I'll try to attach a couple screen caps

Hope this helps.   Good luck

Higgo, are you able to supply a sample recording that shows the problem?

Hi Rich A, thanks very much for your effort in providing that explanation of how you overcame the problem. Unfortunately it didn't make any difference for me: in fact, that 'Use dithering' checkbox was already checked.

Hi Sub,
thanks for your response.
I will post a sample later today.

Well, that took much longer than expected.  In VLC, I couldn't figure out how to capture audio as well as the video, so I just used a camera.
Below are two examples: you'll hear how badly out of synch are audio and video.  There's also drop outs in the audio.
Example of live TV
Example of recording playback
I'm struggling to understand why NextPVR.exe can't do this when playback of recordings through the web client or VLC is perfect.
BTW, I did try YAUIclient and will respond to mvallevand about that separately.

Thanks for any guidance you may be able to provide!

By sample sub mean a few minutes of an actual recording that doesn't play in sync for you linked from Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive. We believe you when you say you have lip sync issues, it is to check on another PC.

OK, thanks Martin, I didn't realise as the saved recordings (*.ts files) all play perfectly in VLC.  I guess you mean playback via NextPVR.exe.   I just tried that myself: I used VLC to convert a recording into a sample of a few seconds duratiion.
This short .ts file plays perfectly in VLC. I swapped the short sample for the original recording. NextPVR.exe cannot play it in synch AND the video is slow.  In case the *.timing file and *.xml files are important, I've bundled them all into a zip archive here in Google Drive.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
BTW, I installed your YAUI client.  There is still a slight lack of synch between audio and video on live TV and recordings, but at least it's watchable!  Thanks for your suggestion.
