Hi All,

since the machine I was using so far for NextPVR is no longer supported by Windows 11 I decided to switch from the installed Windows 10 to Ubuntu 24.04.
I installed the NextPVR .deb package and so far things appear to be fine, except for the fact that some EPG issues that appear to be similar to the ones I reported before (when using NextPVR under Windows) appear to have resurfaced:
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=64117
https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=66173

For some of my DVB-T2 channels NextPVR fails to obtain EPG information via DVB-T2. The EPG information for those particular channels is completely missing. Other channels, on the other hand, appear to have the EPG information that belongs to a different channel. I am certain, that the wrong EPG information is associated with these channels, since the respective channels are either only German or only Italian, but the respective EPG information is clearly mismatched with the wrong language.

I know for a fact, that much more EPG information is available for those particular channels - my TV and my Blu-ray DVB-T2 Recorder are able to obtain the respective EPG information via DVB-T2 (they are not connected to the internet, so they cannot obtain this information from other sources). I can also exclude that fact, that something is off with the USB-TV tuner, that is directly connected to my NextPVR machine.

So, I know for a fact, that there is EPG information that is transmitted via DVB-T2, that NextPVR does not pick up and/or assigns it the wrong way. Maybe you can help me? I attach the respective log files.

Further information:
Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04
NextPVR version: 7.0.2.250621
TV Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV-soloHD DVB-T/DVB-T2
Region: Italy

At least the following channels appear affected (those are the ones I checked, there may be more):

1) RAS ORF1 HD (Freq: 474000000OFF SID: 20): should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)"
2) RAS ORF III HD (Freq: 474000000OFF SID: 23):  should have at least 24 hours of EPG (probably more), but NextPVR only reports "(no listings)"

(note, that unlike previously where channels such as RAS Das Erste HD, RAS SRF zwei HD, and RAS Kika HD were also affected, this time there appear to be only two channels, where the EPG information is completely missing but where I know it exists)

Meanwhile the following channel has EPG information that is both Italian and German, although the channel is Italian language only. In fact, I am pretty sure that the German part of the EPG information displayed here belongs to the RAS ORF1 HD channel:

3) Food Network (Freq: 666000000OFF SID: 20)

Vice versa the following channels also have EPG information that is both Italian and German, although the channels are German language only:
4) RAS 3sat HD (Freq: 474000000OFF SID: 24)
5) RAS ZDF Neo (Freq: 642000000OFF SID: 40)
6) RAS Das Erste HD (Freq: 474000000OFF SID: 22)
7) RAS ORF2T HD (Freq: 474000000OFF SID: 21)

a) Is it possible that the issues solved for Windows have never been changed for the Linux version of NextPVR?
b) I have tried to get the EPG information both with and without the "Use Strict TSID/ONID" option. It does not appear to make any difference on Linux (different from how it was for me when I still used the Windows version).

I have not recorded a stream with TS capture, since that tool only appears to be available on Windows. If you can tell me a Linux/Ubuntu alternative I will try to capture the respective stream.

The changes that sub made for you probably not work with Linux, the scanning logic is totally different and not everything is stored internally to allow the correct hash.

If your issue is with Windows 7, the next version should bring back Windows 7 support

I posted how to do a fullmux in Linux a few times eg. https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid581525. Check online for the dvbv5-scan manpage, The conif file will be in /var/opt/nexpvr and pick a channel name on that frequency

Hi mvallevand,

thank you for the quick reply. The issue is not Windows 7 - so far I had been using Windows 10, but my hardware is not supported by Windows 11 and since Windows 10 support will be dropped soon and the hardware otherwise is still fine, I decided to switch to Linux (I wanted to anyway).

Using the following command I was able to generate the fullmux:
dvbv5-zap -a 1 -c /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter1-DVB-T-channels.conf 'RAS ORF1 HD' -P -t 60 -o /tmp/fullmux.ts

The fullmux can be found here:
https://app.box.com/s/qm9d928hhuju2l7z6ltq97upood9nyiq

Note, that it appears to have taken the RAS ORF III HD stream instead of the RAS ORF1 HD one, but since both have the same frequency (only different SID) this is probably fine (?).

Attached you can also find the ".conf" file.

Thanks, I understand now.

When doing the -P option it gets all channels, the name is to get the frequency only.

It's going to take a bit of time but I already see an issue since I see channels names duplicated in the conf file and I don't know how NextPVR resolves that. We mighjt need a full mux for 530khz too.

Hi mvallevand,

thanks again. If by 530kHz you meant channels on the 530000000 frequency I made a full mux using the following command (note though, that you cannot see the video, only the audio appears included?):
dvbv5-zap -a 1 -c /var/opt/nextpvr/adapter1-DVB-T-channels.conf 'NOVE' -P -t 60 -o /tmp/NOVE_530_20250812.ts

(Not sure, though, why we would need the channels on that frequency? Are they also affected?)

The fullmux can be downloaded here:

Thanks,

On a full mux it depends on the player. Using ffplay you can toggle audio and video streams with the a an v keys.

The reason for for the full mux is there are 3 NOVE channels in your tuning file and I am curious how NextPVR scans and plays them on Windows and Linux. Other stations are also duplicated.

Code:
[NOVE]
    SERVICE_ID = 1
....
[NOVE]
    SERVICE_ID = 20
...
[NOVE]
    SERVICE_ID = 29
...

Oh, cheers - thanks for the explanation.

In NextPVR when there were multiple versions of the same channel (on different frequencies) that I was interested in, I deleted the channels that did not show any EPG information. If there was no EPG information for any of the channels I kept one randomly (usually I went with the lowest frequency and lowest SID number).

This is a slightly different scenario, they are all on the same frequency.

If I recall correctly, I also deleted channels with the same name on the same frequency but with different SIDs (again first checking whether any of them had EPG - if none had them, I usually went with the lowest SID information). Each channel (except for one) only appears once in my final channel selection.

I see what you mean about the NOVE frequency and only a few of those duplicate channels with the EPG.

As for RAS provider I didn't have and issue with the one frequency.  Did you check the "Use Strict TSID/ONID:" tick box noted here https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid601662
