Avoiding duplicates of sporting events

I am finding that sporting event recording events get duplicated by NextPVR.  I think the deduplication only works when season and episode are set, which they generally aren't (in my EPG, at least) for sporting events.  So I get a whole bunch of duplicate recordings.  Is there any setting or workaround to prevent this?

Schedules Direct EPG is the best for sports since they use a unique ID. Typically this is only a problem with IPTV with too many channels identified especially for All Channels recordings. With IPTV and sports it is often better to make multiple recordings.

I’ve run into this too with sports recordings. If the EPG doesn’t provide season/episode data, it makes sense that NextPVR can’t reliably identify duplicates. It would be great to have another deduplication option based on the event title, channel, and scheduled time.

We know from past experience that event title + channel (or even description) is not enough to identify duplicates. The vast majority of EPG sources use very generic titles and descriptions.

If you actually know what channel it is on then the duplicates can't be helped unless the guide also has a trustworthy Live flag and provider EPG rarely has this.

What recording rules are you using? We could probably internally filter with a hash for title+subtitle+description+starttime but it doesn't eliminate replays, classic games or where team based rules that oculd populate title or subtitle or description. That really only works for All channel recordings if you must use them and reduce channel lists.

Also many providers don't recommend using local network broadcasts since the special VOD like feeds are designed more for large number of viewers. Those are harder to create rules. I was working on improving that but I need user credentials to help test how to capture those (they are best for team rules) and getting them has proven to be difficult.
