Hello, I am having some problems with the on screen display in GB-PVR. I am running a kind of slow system as follows:

PIII 866MHz
512MB
XP SP2
Hauppauge PVR150
GeForce FX5200 (Supports DX9)

When viewing live TV, everything is fine, but when I want to browse the "mini guide" while watching TV, the computer seems to struggle. The video feed becomes very choppy. I have tried all my decoders and all of the deinterlace settings. I have also tried VMR9, 7, and overlay. Is there anything else I can try? I have Media Portal already installed, and after I got the DirectX 9 graphics card, everything worked fine (including all OSD's). I think the problem may be that the "mini guide" has transparency settings. Would a different skin turn the transparency settings off, or what else can I do to speed up the mini guide (other than changing hardware). I know that there is some way to make it work, since Media Portal works 100% fine.

Please let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

You're below the GB-PVR minimum recommended CPU spec (1GHz PIII or above), so I'm not really surprised its struggling. You could try switch to Overlay instead of VMR7/VMR9. It may help.

If you dont get it working well for you in GB-PVR, then stick with Media Portal.

Are there any other tips that may speed things up?

Is there a way to have all the rendering go through my DX9-enabled card?

Also, are there skins where the mini guide is not transparent, or is there a way to make the mini guide opaque?

Thanks!

No, there is very little you can do to speed it up (other than upgrading your CPU). As I said above, try Overlay instead of VMR7/VMR9. I say this because VMR uses much more CPU power than Overlay.

A 'DX9-enabled' card doesnt really provide you much benefit over any other card when it comes to viewing video.
