I am about to set up a second Dish301 sat box for use with GBPVR. My question is about the eventstrings that GBPVR sends to Girder. I intend to setup my second Dish STB with a different remote address.

Essentially what that does is that it makes the IR codes different and one remote controls box #1 and the other box #2.

Girder can learn those remote codes with no sweat, and I would create 2 command sets (one for each Dish receiver), identical except for the IR codes. The problem I see is, will GBPVR send different eventstrings for different tuners?

For example, if I wish to change the channel on tuner #1, will the eventstring be unique to that tuner, or will it be the same for both tuners.

If they are unique to the tuner, then I have no problem, but if they are the same then my scheme will not work as Girder will change the channel on both tuners, regardless of the different IR codes, as the eventstring will match both commands.

Thank you in advance for any info provided.

Cheers

You wont be able to use the builtin 'Girder channel changer' for this. It only send the one set of events. You will be able to rig something like this up with Girder using the '.exe channel changer'.

Unfortunately my remote (MCE2005 remote) does not have and executable that fits the needs.

Could this be considered for a later version of GBPVR? or is there some technical reason it can't be done.

I am thinking of maybe a user setting in the config program, that when checked would modify (append really) the events sent with tuner specific string, such T1, T2, and so on.

Cheers

I'm fairly sure girder has an .exe that can be called by the .exe channel changer. This girder executable can be configured for any command line, so you can easily configure it to have some different information for each capture source.

To be honest, I rather not change GB-PVR for this.

You are right. I did some Googling and found a link to how to configure a command line Girder event. So I think I can leave my existing tuner as it is now setup, and create a new command tree for Girder command line events.

Calling the girder exe with the channel change parameter would allow me to trigger that second set of channel change command (in theory)

If I get this working I will post a how to.

Cheers
