Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to use gb-pvr without being connected to the internet.
First, I must connect it if I want to setup TV channels, because it seems there is no way to setup channels manually.
Second, once I did such configuration, it works only if it is connected. If not, GB-PVR raises an error when activating Live-TV.
Finally, I am wondering why a few GB-PVR services are trying to connect Internet when running. One of them even seems to run as a server.
My HTPC is not always connected, and I do not understand why it is absolutely required to be connected.
Thanks.

PS : sorry for my bad english...

Yes you can, but is designed to have TV Guide information, so it pretty much sucks without it. You can configure it to use XMLTV though, which loads its channels and shows from a text file. You can manually put this XMLTV file on the machine every week or so.

If you really have to, you can set it up to use XMLTV and point it at a bogus file name, then use the 'Add channel' button to create your buttons. As I said, it pretty much suck without access to EPG information.

It doesnt connect out to the internet, unless you configure it to use zap2it or bleb and it goes retrieve it's EPG information. It does use TCP/IP to communicate between gbpvr.exe and gbpvrrecordingservice.exe, but this is only communication on the local machine. gbpvrrecordingservice.exe acts as a server in this communication, so listens for incoming requests.

There is no spyware or trojans in GB-PVR.

...because thats the way this application designed to work. If thats not ideal, then maybe you're investigating the wrong type of application. There are plenty others out there.
