Ever since I've got my MVP, the menu system is always aligned to the right of the screen, with a about a 3cm bar along the top, along the left and along the bottom.

This happens also with the OSD when playing a video or TV. However, video files and TV when played, are full screen and these bars are not present. It only happens with the OSD and menu's.

The same happens from the minute the MVP is turned on (hauppauge loading screen/contacting server) and also with the hauppauge software.

Am I to presume there is nothing I can do to fix it, and have to live with it? It's not too bad, just a bit annoying.

I've tried the MVP Screen position plugin, but when I remove or resize, it seems impossible to get anything to go into the black border around the 3 sides Sad

Any ideas? I'd apreciate any input

Thanks

Sorry, sounds like you might be stuck with it.

Thanks for the reply

Guess I'll have to live with it - Just cant understand why anything else that operates over the SCART is fine, and why it only affects the menus Sad

Thanks anyway

I dont know. The MVP screen positioner plugin should enable you to go to the absolute limits I'm able to set, so if this doesnt cure the problem then I cant think of anything else we can do.

As far as I know, the hauppauge boot screens aren't adjustable. Those are up before gbpvr, so sub has no control.

On one of my 2 tv's, I have a small black border that I can't get rid of. Had the same issue with a PC and TV-out. Then I noticed it's an issue with the TV itself. Plain ol' tv won't go there, it's like the mask of the tube near the edge.

For some reason, I never noticed it with TV. Probably only noticed it with the PC/MVP since I was trying to make sure I got *just* into the overscan area.

Just a thought, maybe it's the same issue.

Both my MVP's will adjust the gbpvr screens as requested, either manually editing the config.xml, or using the plugin. Although I don't think either recognize this positioning for the overlay mask you see when the OSD is up. That always seem to leave a small border where it's brighter. Maybe if I push the overscan high enough it'll go away, but it doesn't bother me.

There is some confusion with the MVPScreenPosition plugin usage. It helps if you remember the offsets define the position of the upper left-hand corner of your tv image. Once you have that right you should be able to adjust the size.

I hope it helps,

I just wanted to clarify something with the MVP position plugin. When I used the program, I was able to position the screen and resize it perfectly while I had the app open. I then exited out thinking that all was set and I was done. Only later did I discover that the plugin displays the size and offset numbers that I had to manually place into the config file.

I have two questions, the first is for Ron22: are there any plans to update the plugin to have it save the settings for me so that you don't have to manually enter them?

My second question is for UKGuest44: when you use the plugin, can you position the screen to appear correctly? If you can, maybe your just fighting the same issue I was at first. If not, does the normal TV screen appear correclty positioned? And last, are there any controls on the TV itself that might help?

Thanks

I am not sure if this is posible. First I would have to write to config.xml when GB-PVR is open. Not sure how GB-PVR would like it if I did that. Secound I would have to close the MVP server and restart it after the changes are made.

Sub any ideas?

Ron,
Seeing has how I can edit the Config manually while GBPVR is running, I'm guessing that it only reads the file when it's first launched, and therefore you should be able to update the file while it's running as well, but I'll let Sub give you the definitive answer.

As for stopping and resarting the server service, that could be a little tricky, since you would have to know which session to stop and restart (assuming the user has multiple MVPs loaded and running. Just my humble opinion, but I would think that just updating the file should be enough at this point, even if the user had to restart the server before all would take effect.

Of course, if you can figure out a way, all the better! Smile
