web camera recording

I'd like to see a plugin or added functionality to GBPVR to allow recording from web cameras - not just the fun ones for instant messenger - but security cameras like this one: http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=342

Proably a long time off. Perhaps if you find a free command line tool that can record from a camera we can integrate with it.


I am doing a security camera plugin but it only works with stills. I would love to find a tool that I can launch that would record security cameras feeds in chunks with sound.

My AXIS camera streams out MJPEG files, I'm trying to find something to take that and transcode to something else if needed for smaller files. Motion detection would be nice, but that's getting more advanced..

Mencoder can take mjpeg input and output divx/xvid.

I tried installing the SecurityCamera Plugin but I get an error message "Object "Reference not set to an instance of an object". I cannot figure out what it tries to say. I appreciate any help. Thanx

check out http://www.yawcam.com... i love it. I just haven't been able to learn how to integrate it into gbpvr more seamlessly.
